What's the deal with..........

Post by allucaneatbuffett »

the set lists this year?

Something seems odd to me. If you have been following the set lists, I noticed something odd. The other night at Mohegan Sun, he appeared to have a pretty low key and simple set list. More importantly, he played a total of 26 songs.

Yet in Charlotte for example, he played 29 songs!!! I wonder why that is. I thought the tickets cost alot more at Mohegan. Why would he cut them 3 songs shorter than a show in Charlotte? Just wondering why this is. As you all know, 3 good extra songs at a buffett show is a big difference.

I am going to the Nissan Show in August. I hope he is fired up and ready to go by then after most of July off. I hope he makes it an even 30 songs

What a life........

I think it has to do with the amount of talking Jimmy does in between songs. He plays until basically three hours after the scheduled start time (ie. 11 o'clock for an 8 o'clock concert). Also in Charlotte, there was no intermission because of rain so Jimmy played pretty much for a full three hours straight.

I must say that I listened to the Charlotte Show, and that was an INCREDIBLE set list and show. The crowd was ready to go even though it was raining...shows the true dedication of the "Parrothead Nation". I too was a little disappointed at the Mohegan Set List, but I didn't listen to it, so it still might have been a good show. I am going to Nissan in August and can't wait for the 3rd!!

I thought the set list at Mohegan was way boring!! Heck even the CRB looked bored!! Its mostly a SYKBH set list. I left during Margaritaville and gee whiz what did I miss you ask....Fins, Brown Eyed girl and Pirtate looks at 40....wow havent heard those in such a long time....Mix it up a little already Jimmy!!!

let the lashing begin....lol

Personally, my favorite is when Jimmy does APLA40 during the regular show and then has a surprise and scaled-back encore at the end. That adds to the fun of the moment.

In fact, the "Here We Are" video would have the greatest impact before the last encore song as opposed to right before Fins.... Can you imagine that video right before a solo Jimmy doing "Nautical Wheelers," "Defying Gravity" or "Lovely Cruise"...wow, talk about magic....

But then I remember my first Buffett show, when Jimmy finished with "Changing Channels" and this plastered b**** just screamed in my ear: "F-you Jimmy! Play something we know!" (Of course he'd already played all those songs....  :-? )

It's always pleasant to read such uplifting comments from the Parrothead faithful.

I wouldn't count this gal as among the "Parrothead faithful". She was clearly just there for the drunkfest. The worst part is she was with the same bus group and got lost getting back to the bus. We waited well over an hour after the show for that one person.

I wasn't referring to the person making the request. I was referring to the suggested act of violence against her. It kind of goes against the grain of the peaceful image so-called "Parrotheads" like to project.

  Wow Jah, posts in two threads and both are criticizing others...that's sad. :-?

BTW, I think they were speaking figuratively vs. literally...I don't know but I'd guess neither of those guys has a history of assault convictions....

What's sad is that someone would want to do bodily harm to a fellow fan. As long as you're looking for things to criticize me about I must point out you missed a third post I made in another thread about things you haven't done in a while. As long as you're witch-huntin'....

And yes, I was critical in my other post in regards to the person feeling the need to apologize for merely offering a tip about a possible Buffett appearance at a Mac show. Is offering up one's own opinion in regards to these matters now against the rules at BN? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were. Wake up and realize not all of our opinions are ever going to be the same, nor should they ever be.

A few years ago in Nashville, there were two teenagers right behind me. During the break between the second set and the encores, one of them says, "So, what's he gonna do for the encores?" The other one goes, "Probably Margaritaville."

I guessed the tiny little fact that he had already played that escaped them! I couldn't believe that they were paying that little attention to the show! I'm only 24, and sometimes I think I am old school!

The Set List may have become a snooze, but I'll accept that. I'll take the surprise songs as they come, but expect nothing. For me, it's more about meeting people and making friends in the lots.

If I get Twelve Volt Man, Nautical Wheelers, or Lovely Cruise as a solo encore, then that would just be icing on the daquiri!

I have never counted his songs... never thought about it.... I would have been clueless if someone asked me how many songs he did. imho - isn't that getting a little picky? 26...28...29... who cares as long as you enjoy his music. I honestly have the most fun tailgating and meeting great people.... the show is just a bonus...
