50th birthday suggestions
OK, Mrs Harbor has offered me a choice of a nice "getaway" trip OR a big birthday bash for my 50th (August). Question's are A: which to take, I'd like to get away for a few days as we've had elderly house guests for a month now and I'm going crazy with the cooking, cleaning 24/7. I'm thinking from St Augustine, either Cedar/Siesta key, Tybee Island/Savannah, a cruise or the Florida keys. Any other suggestions for relaxing with a little party time mixed in? Or B: should we just stay home and have a big blow out? I'm in a quandry. Any and all suggestions would be helpful.

If it's relaxation you want, GO SOMEWHERE and GET AWAY.
If it's party you want, PARTY.
If you GO SOMEWHERE, you can do what YOU want, since it's YOUR birthday!
(I'm an expert in the "rules of it's 'my birthday' ", so feel free to ask for a copy!)
In "Changes in Latitude" forum, there's a thread about Savannah. I know b/c I posted it
Whatever you decide, HAVE FUN!!!

Re: 50th birthday suggestions
You can go on a vacation most any time, the window for a birthday bash is small.OPHarbor wrote:OK, Mrs Harbor has offered me a choice of a nice "getaway" trip OR a big birthday bash for my 50th (August). Any and all suggestions would be helpful.
We had a big party at the house for my 50th.
Invited friends over, had a local barbecue place cater the food, hired a karaoke DJ, filled the coolers with beer and the freezer with boat drinks.
On the invitations we requested "no gifts please, only age appropriate cards"
Then we lined the cards up on the fireplace mantle.
A wonderful time was had by all.

Hmmm...Well, since I am looking the big 5-0 square in the eye in the next couple years I've been thinking a lot about this too and have come to this conclusion.
I love to travel so I'm thinking along the lines of what Jimmy did for his 50th. Maybe not as extravagant but probably a month or so diving and fishing in Honduras, Belize and Costa Rica. I'll be there long enough that if my friends want to come down and party....the more the merrier!
I, like Auntie, feel strongly about the "It's My Birthday" rules. Especially the 50! I'm gonna do and go what and where I want, friends are always welcome...
So, do what you damn well want and enjoy the heck out of what ever you do or wherever you go!!! It's your day-stretch it out to a month!!!!!:pirate:
