I read in a motorcycle magazine that the swapmeets that are held at the old Lakewood fairgrounds would be coming to an end because the property is expected to be developed for multi-family housing. I'd heard this before but this was the first time that an article said that both the fairground buildings and the ampitheater would be bulldozed. I guess some would say 'good ridence to the old place' but this leaves a big void in the open ampitheater market in the Atlanta area and would be the end of an era for JB. We may have seen the last of 25 shows there.

I called the amphitheater and they are not closing!!

it's been a rumor for years because it's an area close to the skirts of the city limits that has a LOT an EXTREME amount of low rent, crime ridden area. I am sure that both the city and developers would love to get their hands on that area and change it and get rid of the drugs and prostitution but it's just not going to happen.
