Rumors for Vegas April 07'?

Post by lam-b »

Hi guys! I am an Executive Assistant that plans a yearly convention in
Las Vegas. Last year I heard a rumor that Jimmy puts on a concert at the MGM in the Spring. I have been in Contact with the Vegas conv. buru.
all the conections I can think of. :( I was speaking with a lady that does scheduling for Jimmy and I came up with nothin'. :-?
I have a half million dollar budget to spend on this realitivly small convention (300 people) We foot the bill for everything, lodging, food and two shows. I would LOVE! to be able to have one of the shows be Jimmy's concert. Hook up all my attendees with Parrot head shirts, give them all a Jimmy CD in their Convention invite just push the concert to the limit! I have already checked out the rest. and they will give us a private dining experience before such concert if I can just get any news on a date.....
So I am coming to you all.... We will be staying this year at the Venitian from April 15, 16, and 17, 2007...If any of you hear of anything could you please let me know... :)
I would love to treat my top producing Agents to a Jimmy concert night out.
:D

Keep in mind, that the tickets alone would be about $90k out of your $500k budget. Add in a shirt and CD and your up to about 20% of your budget. That is before you even get to the weekend hotel rates.

If you really wanted to consider this as an option, you'd probably be better off staying at the MGM or at least one of the MGM properties (Mirage, TI, etc.).

Current rumor (which many of hold as more than just a rumor) for Jimmy in Vegas is this year, in October. Not to say that he couldn't swing back through next Spring, but....

I believe the dates at this point are Saturday's 10/21 & 10/28 - at the MGM Grand. (with a San Diego date in between the two Saturday's, right guys?)
I'm just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy,
In a world full of pushin' and shove.

April 07' Vegas rumors

Post by lam-b »

Well not exactly you see I already have my contact signed and it is a done deal for he hotel. This is the third year of planning this on my own and we always book the hotel a full year in advance. 235 tickets on one show cost me 25.6K last year. When it comes to the shows the cost is really not an issue. As far as the CD...We give each agent a gift bag when they register for the convention. We supply them with 50.00 worth of gambling chips, a 50.00 gift card to the hotel to spend as they wish and a gift. Most the time I can get the gifts pretty reasonable. I get them all Cross rollerball pens with our company logo on it this year. I paid a fraction of what the thing retails for. I have several promotional product companies I deal with. As far as the rest, in my contract I have a food and beverage allowance as well. This year I had that met and more before we bussed everyone off to Smith & Wollensky's for dinner and back for the show. I still made it 30K under budget this year.

Yea good luck!
My life if sheer hell come this December...That is when the cut list starts
We have to make a list of all our agents and their production.
We have to start cutting them down from there. It really isn't much fun.
We have one agent that is our top producing agent, they took 35 people this year. It really is a nice conv. Most of our meetings end by noon, 1pm. And they have free time until dinner.
It really is a load of work for me babysitting 300 people, one day this year I work 18 hrs., but the last night is always fun.
That is the night I would love to have them all go to the Jimmy concert.

Wow, if you are getting your tickets for $108, you're doing a pretty good job.

My tickets are usually... oh wait... 8)

Seriously though, the tickets that I usually get have a face value of close to $300.

Those dates are a Sun, Mon, Tues so I doubt that would be possible as Jimmy plays Vegas on Saturdays as far as I know.

It would be fun, though.

But they were to Ave. Q, and they are a "Group Sales"
But three years back when we went to see Elton John we paid
250-300 for some.....
depends on the show. That's when we held our event every year at
Caesars too!

Maybe do something at M'ville at the Flamingo so it's "like" a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Hope it works out for you, if not, that budget could get your group one hell of a meal at Delmonicos on the Venetian. My fave restaurant, the gumbo is outstanding!!!
On the Jimmy front, just because he is playing this fall doesnt mean he wont do spring as well.

What line of work are your agents in? You dont have to name the company.... but are they Real Estate, Insurance, Sports Agents or what? Just curious.

If Jimmy's tour schedule doesn't work out (which its highly unlikely if the convention is a Sun, Mon, Tue timeframe), I could help you out in planning a parrothead party if desired. I know some Buffett friendly bands in town and would be happy to recommend some facilities (in addition to Margaritaville of course). Let me know if you ahve any quesitons and I can help you out with a locals perspective of how to make things phun in Vegas!

If Dean helps you out, just be prepared for a hangover the following day.

J/K, Dean does have some great connections out there and would be able to help with something.

We are a Commercial Surplus Lines Ins. Co.
We insure Commerical Property and Casualty business.
It is pretty cool at the V as their price to have a pool reception
is the same as Caesars (2,500). We went to the Wynn this year
and their pool recept. cost was 5K... so I could only have one instead
of both an opening and closing reception at the pools.
So I am pretty cranked. Then stuff them inside at a ballroom or
farm it out and look eleswhere...
