Anyone heard of this song?
OK, my cousin tells me that her Grandma is a parrothead and asked if I know a song that talks about the "humpty-back whales and some chimpanzees. Some cats and rats and elephants." and something about unicorns. Anyone ever heard of this song? Does Jimmy sing ANYTHING like this. I've never heard of it!!!!!
I do it for the stories I can tell!!!

It's the Unicorn Song.......but I don't think Jimmy has ever done it.....
The Unicorn Song
words and music Shel Silverstein, new verse Andrew McKee
A long time ago, when the Earth was green
There was more kinds of animals than you've ever seen
They'd run around free while the Earth was being born
And the loveliest of all was the unicorn
There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn
The Lord seen some sinning and it gave Him pain
And He says, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain"
He says, "Hey Noah, I'll tell you what to do
Build me a floating zoo,
and take some of those...
Green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
Don't you forget My unicorns
Old Noah was there to answer the call
He finished up making the ark just as the rain started to fall
He marched the animals two by two
And he called out as they came through
Hey Lord,
I've got green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn
I just can't find no unicorns"
And Noah looked out through the driving rain
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games
Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling
Oh, them silly unicorns
There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Noah cried, "Close the door because the rain is falling
And we just can't wait for no unicorns"
The ark started moving, it drifted with the tide
The unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away
That's why you never see unicorns to this very day
You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
You're never gonna see no unicorns
[New Lyrics]
Now you might think this is the ending to the song,
But I'll have to tell you friends that in fact you're wrong
You see, Unicorns are magical, so when the rain started pouring,
They grew themselves some wings and they took to soaring.
You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
But if you're looking for the unicorns, don't be forlorn,
The second star to the right and straight on until morning.

I learned that song when I was a little kid...Shel Silverstein wrote it but it was the Irish Rovers who made it popular as a song (we listened to a LOT of Irish music in our house...still do).
My best friend and I used to go around singing it all the time, we thought it was a hoot.
Doubt it was ever recorded by Jimmy.

Everyone's forgotten the most important part... the hand/arm gestures that go with the lyrics.
green alligators = clamping both arms together in front of you
long necked geese = your hand is the head/beak and the rest of your arm is the neck.
humpty backed camels = putting your arm in a Hunchback shape over your shoulder
chimpanzees = scratching both armpits ... like a monkey
cats = two fingers making pointy cat ears
rats = two fingers from each hand making rat whiskers
elephants = a dangling arm in front of your nose for a trunk
unicorn = index finger pointing from your forehead

A**hole Song
Does anyone remember The A**hole Song? I can't find it credited to any CD. The song follows the idea of Freddy Fishstick's idea of Lesson Two: "Just remember, a**holes are born that way, and they usually don't change" from Tales From Margaritaville/Are You Ready for Freddy? Does anyone know where/when it was recorded?

Yes--Yes! ALWAYS at St. Patrick's Day, and also when we ski. In fact the musician in residence at the Glaciers Pub in Hidden Valley, PA , uses it as a MUST sing song in his schtick. Out little parakeet grew up knowing those motions before he knew a lot of other things!!blackjack wrote:OK fine, but do any of you do the hand motions?!!?

A Hole Song
I found The A**hole Song on Limewire, but it didn't sound like Buffett. It claimed to be Buffett, but it didn't sound like it to me. Is there a version that JB does, or am I just going deaf from that last concert?
There's also The Ass and the Hole on Mac's Word of Mouth CD....that's not what you're talking about is it?

It's proper name is also "The I-95 Song"
Just to remove the mystery. . . definitely not Buffett.
Has anyone ever heard a "*****" song (***** was the key word in the chorus, other than that the tequila hazed it over)? I heard it back in 1988 when I was on my senior trip in Mazatlan, Mexico at Senor Frogs. . . but I cant remember who sings it. Sure would solve a big mystery for me.
Thanks
