Re: What's for dinner?
Went to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law and we tried a new place, Habaneros Mexican Cantina in Pawleys Island. I had choripollo - chicken covered with crumbled chorizo, rice, quacamole, lettuce, tomato. Really good food and the portions were so big I couldn't finish mine. If it was a little closer I'd probably go there more often.

Me, too, Nan! But in the past few years since I semiretired from being the house slave (since I can't semiretire from teaching, I had to cut back my hours somewhere, so I cut them back at home ...) I have been much more casual about cooking dinner. And guess what, they seem to appreciate it more when I do cook a big meal!lime rickie wrote:There must (for me) always be some kind of greens or veggie or I just don't feel like dinner is complete. Tonight, since we are having a storm today, it will be the traditional spaghetti with meatballs and sausage. That's what I make when it snows. Makes me feel cozy.

cased sausage, as a side, or ground sausage as part of the mix? I ask, the last time I made spaghetti and meatballs, I used a half-and-half mix of mild and spicy ground sausage. It could have been -20 outside, and I would have been warm w/ what was in thatsistergoldenhair wrote:Me, too, Nan! Cased hot italian sausage, I cook on grill or on days like this, in oven, then simmer with the sauce and meatballs. Leftover sausage is soooo good with eggs the next day! I also like to sauté hot fryers in olive oil and garlic to have on the side (which are also fabulous with eggs the next day!), but don't have any in the house and I'm not going out in the mess so we will do without tonight.RinglingRingling wrote:cased sausage, as a side, or ground sausage as part of the mix? Yeah, sausage and peppers is a big BBQ food around here. Wouldn't be 4th of July without it.RinglingRingling wrote:I love spicy Italian cased sausage w/ peppers and onions, on a bollilo rolls too. hard to say, "I'll just eat one or two"sistergoldenhair wrote:Cased hot italian sausage, I cook on grill or on days like this, in oven, then simmer with the sauce and meatballs.
