Over the past couple of months I've been close to people that have either died or lost loved ones due to drugs.
Last June, a friend of mine died while trying to stop a purse snatching. This man was stealing purses to support a drug habit, and a friend of mine seen this and tried to stop this criminal act. Unfortunately he didn't suceed. He put his life on the line to help an elderly victim of a crime, and gave his life to help her. Here's to you Jon... www.jonuhero.com

Last Friday I was informed by my ex-father-in-law, that I'm still very close to, hadn't seen his son in 4 days. I know my ex-wifes brother had developed a drug habit, but I didn't think it was as bad as it really was. I had been informed by my ex-wife that her brother thought that the mafia was after him. On top of this, he had lost his job as a union sprinkler fitter and had recently been divorced. I'm convinced that no one was after him, and it was just the paranoia from the drugs setting in. And I'm sure the other actions were a result of drug usage.
I received a call last Friday from the Eudora Kansas Police Department. They had found Travis. Very unfortunately, he had taken his own life.

I would like everyone reading this to say a little prayer for Royce and Delores Stiffler for their son Travis. And most of all, for Kendall Stiffler who lost his best friend and father.

MY GOD, how terrible. It hurts just to read this.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, your former brother-in-law, and the families of these guys.
Yes, I'll definately be saying prayers for the families in about 10 minutes.
Please try to be strong during this tradgedy-there are several people who will be needing you and counting on you to be there for them.
Prayers & Godspeed to all affected by these horrible, senseless losses of life.

It is so sad when innocent people are taken.... and that includes people addicted to drugs. I don't think people realize how addictive until it's too late... and you have to wonder what was wrong in their life that they had to get to that point... In God's hands now

I'm so sorry. Prayers for you. A dear friend of mine lost a son to suicide, due to mental health problems related to his drug use. It's hard to tell sometimes whether somebody had a mental illness and self medicated with drugs or they had a drug problem that caused their mental illness.

Wow. My prayers to those in need.

Booze, if it's ANY help, you're not alone. My husband has lost eight friends in about the last year. Only one of those deaths was what we'd call "normal" because of old age. The others were all the direct or indirect result of drugs, vilolence, traffic accident. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I know it feels overwhelming. Hug your loved ones even tighter today.

Baby, I know you won't read this until after we are together again....but you know you have my support wholeheartedly..... It kills me that I couldn't be there with you for yet another tragedy.....Royce and Deloris are such great people and they certainly didn't deserve what they are going through..... I also know that you think about Jon a lot... Life really is hard sometimes...that is why it is so important to hang on to the important things in life and cherish every moment.... I am so glad we are sharing a family vacation together with our children in a few hours....
