Rum drink help?
Rum and Coke (preferably dark rum) is my favorite drink, bar none. For a change of pace, though, does anyone have any mixer suggestions for an easy to make rum drink? I was thinking some kind of juice... like blackberry or one of those cran-whatever combinations. Something I could basically use instead of Coke.

I've not personally tried all of these, but found the place useful.

When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

Dark rum and diet coke is my standard drink...but I have found that rum works great in just about any juice (except maybe straight grapefruit...stick to vodka for your salty dogs!)....from pomegranate to citrus and cranberry blends. There is a ocean-spray white cranberry juice with peach that is excellent.
Rum and lemonade is good. I've even had rum and Monster energy drink and mixed it with Fuze.

Go for a "DARK AND STORMY"
Make it like a dark rum and coke but use ginger beer, the bitier the better. Add a slice of lime and you'll think your in Belize.

Cruzan Banana rum, white cranberry, splash of red cranberry, sprite zero. Works well frozen too.
White Cran is better for drinks b/c its less sharp
Diet Sodas are also better for drinks generally.

I like the tang of the regular though.....the white stuff is good...but too soft tasting for me in many drinks.Harry_Fins wrote:Cruzan Banana rum, white cranberry, splash of red cranberry, sprite zero. Works well frozen too.

It's all a matter of taste.

Keeping with the simplicity factor . . .
Capt. Morgans and Dr. Pepper.
For the "don't drink these or we'll miss our plane the next morning" factor, my own concoction, the Pirate's Booty.
1 1/2 shots Dark rum
1 1/2 shots tequila
2 shots Pineapple juice
2 shots OJ
spash of cranberry for color
Pour all into shaker over ice. Strain into hurricane glass, finish with lemon/lime seltzer, lightly stir.
Unfortuantely, after the second batch, my subsequent drinks got lighter on the juice and heavier on the alcohol. Let's just say the evening didn't end well.

Re: Rum drink help?
You know it was this exact thought (adding rum to fruit juice) that got me thinking, but before I asked the question, as you did, I found these:Demerara wrote:Rum and Coke (preferably dark rum) is my favorite drink, bar none. They're a tad sweet, and I was able to add a shot of the Captains Spiced to each and that didn't change the taste much either.
Just got to thinking about which Snapple would be a good mixer and the Captain read my mind!
