Minnesota
So I'm being taken from the coast and going to visit the in-laws in Minnesota in September. We're going to be flying into Duluth for a couple days, then go down to my brother in law's wedding in tiny New York Mills. We're then going to drive down to Minneapolis and spend a few days there before flying home. We figure that will maximize our vacation time and minimize my "spending time with in laws" time.
Any suggestions of things to do in Duluth and Minneapolis (and in between there). I'd love to find a cool bar to have some boat drinks in!

I am sooooo happy to say that I WILL BE AT MOTM 2010!!!! 5 years in a row!!!!

Split Rock
I can not suggest a bar, but I will steer you up to the Split Rock Lighthouse on the North Shore. Bring warm clothes, The lighthouse and views of Lake Superior are great! Take the tour up inside the light. Make sure it will be open if you go as the winter winds blow early.

Just where do you get white jeans these days? Or will I get in trouble there for wearing white after Labor Day????

You are going to need to chronicle this whole trip with a journal and pictures...just so you don't forget a single hilarious moment.

North side of the Mississippi off of Hennepin Ave has a pretty cool strip overlooking the river...Oragami sushi bar...and a few other outdoor bars...
Ichibans Japanese restaurant is worth a look...very cool...and you get a Panda or Geisha girl with your drink...
Order a Hurricane and it seems to sort of confuse them a tad...
Oh...and on Nicollet Ave is The British Pub...excellent ales and you can do some lawn bowling on their rooftop...
If you go further south on Nicollet...beware of a homeless man named Thad...harmless...but annoying...
And if all else fails...there's always Hooters at the Mall of America...

Re: Minnesota
If you have any time in New York Mills, be sure to go 10 miles west and walk through downtown Perham... they have a very nice little main street and a great breakfast place called the Station House. Zorbaz on Little Pine Lake is a great restaurant and bar right outside of Perham, and it's right on the lake... great food and drinks!cheetogyrl wrote:So I'm being taken from the coast and going to visit the in-laws in Minnesota in September.
