And the New Album Will Be Called?
During the show at the Tweeter Center Boston (Mansfield, MA) on Thursday night Jimmy said he has not decided on what the name of the new album will be. It was originally going to be called "Party at the End of the World" and then it was announced that it would be called "Nothing But a Breeze".
During a recent interview with the Boston Globe this is what Jimmy said:
Q. You have a new album due this fall. Weren't you also going to title it ``Party at the End of the World"?
A. Yes, but I learned a long time ago that if you have to explain it, it's not really a good title. People said to me, ``What does it mean? Is it the end of the world? Is there a party? What?" There were too many questions for an album title. So I came up with ``Nothing But a Breeze," from the old Jesse Winchester song. I won't have to explain that.
Let's help Jimmy out with the name of the new album. Should it be called it "Bama Breeze"? Any suggestions?

I couldn't agree more. "Nothing But a Breeze" is a great song and Jimmy's version is outstanding (I was lucky enough to be at Tuesday night's Indy show where he debuted the song). But all-in-all, I'd rather Jimmy stick to original stuff. I like "Werewolves of London", "Defying Gravity", "Southern Cross" and so on, but I don't go to Buffett shows or buy his albums to hear new versions of songs I already know and/or love. I go to shows and by albums to hear songs that will BECOME new songs that I love; to find something new in his music that I love so much.f2cdlzrd wrote:I like "Here We Are". I do not like the idea of naming the album after a cover song, i.e. "Nothing But a Breeze". It may be a great song, but it's still a cover. Two thumbs up for "Here We Are".
For that reason, I think "Here We Are" is a brilliant, highly appropriate, and fitting title for the new album. But no matter what it's called, it's shaping up to be one helluva record!
These moments we're left with, may we always remember, these moments are shared by few...

After singing, laughing, and crying in the middle of a large BN group hug through the video last night at Great Woods, I think Here We Are would be perfect..... PERFECT!!!!
Here We Are.... WHO we are.... the long, beautiful story of all this wonderful craziness.
I hope someone is listening out there!!

Tuesday night too. again, Candy and I were the only ones in the immediate area who knew the words, but it really would make a great album title. (and as long as we are changing it in mid-tour...SchoolGirlHeart wrote:After singing, laughing, and crying in the middle of a large BN group hug through the video last night at Great Woods, I think Here We Are would be perfect..... Here We Are, this is Who We Are and this is how we are, and we like it. It gives a certain 'nuff said' quality to it. Like Jimmy says, "You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say." That's it.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:After singing, laughing, and crying in the middle of a large BN group hug through the video last night at Great Woods, I think Here We Are would be perfect..... I'd be curious to know how Michi's friend reacted to the song after being exposed to us all weekend.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Well said!!!redparrot26 wrote:Here We Are, this is Who We Are and this is how we are, and we like it. Absolutely! Here We Are is the best parallel ever to Changes In Latitude, Changes in Attitude...an album that started us all finding our own Margaritavilles, Banana Republics, Tampico Traumas, Biloxis-- our own "Shelters" from the storms.
The name depicts the evolution of fans in the last 30 years.
And, it doesn't sound and feel FINAL. There is such a positive feeling to HERE WE ARE!
The song about the Floribama and the video at Fire Dog...fit with Here We Are. (They've come a long way from the devastation.)
The song Nothing but a Breeze also says...Here We Are for Jimmy and Jane and his loved ones.
At age 60, there is NO better way for Jimmy to say Here I Am still kickin a**
PATEOTW also fits the theme of Here We Are, speaking of Jimmy's travels to those far-away places his grandfather taught him to dream about and reach for!
This album, so far, has all the markings of one as great as CILCIA!!

I think somewhere in Jimmy's mind he figured out that TWO albums ago he was at the Far Side Of The World and now he's at a Party At The End Of The World.
Too many worlds. Think of this - Beach House On The Moon was the first album he ever released with the word Beach in it. Never been a Breeze in a title.
Usually, it seems so with Jimmy anyway, the title tracks are of the better tunes on the record - Havana Daydreamin', CILCIAttitudes, SOASOASailor, Coconut Telegraph, Somewhere Over China, One Particular Harbour, Floridays, Fruitcakes, Barometer Soup, Far Side Of The World and License To Chill.
That's a pretty cool compilation waiting to happen. A couple were left out because, like I said, of the better tunes on the record. Perhaps the new title track will hold up to that group of great title tracks.
