Try the Department of Motor Vehicles website. I know in NY if you want vanity plates you can type in what you want and they let you know if it's already taken.

In Florida you have to go in with your list.... and the clerk types them in manually.....

I went in with 40 options.... only FOUR were available!!!!! But I am happy with the one I got!

Doesn't look like Maryland has search capabilities.

Your DMV site should have something....or some DMV offices have computers for the public set up if it is not on the website (Ohio used to be like that).

North Carolina has a great one....if it's a little clunky to actually find. ( https://edmv.dot.state.nc.us/sp/Persona ... ceType=EXP for any lurkers that are interested).

I am waiting for my plates to come in the mail should only be a few more weeks. So if you see a bright purple pick-up truck with "LONEPALM" on the back...make sure to wave!

You can call in Texas and they'll tell you whether or not the one you want is taken. Took me about 15 tries . . . but I got

would most folks north of Ocala and more than 20 miles inland know Appleton was in WI, much less the boyhood home of Harry Houdini, or the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame? :D

a lot of amazing stuff came out of WI in the last half of the 19th century. Even a little-known family named Ringling. :)

I thought Jerry Koosman, the former Mets pitcher, was also from Appleton, WI. I just double checked and the baseball almanac says Appleton, MN.

We, Maryland that is, only have "PHC" plates with a parrot on it.. don't think you can personilze it. It's an "Organization plate" for the OC PHC:
