not as of my last flight (yesterday)
from the TSA website: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/ ... _0099.shtm
MATCHES

You may not bring matches in your checked baggage because of safety regulations. You may, however, bring up to four books of safety (non-strike anywhere) matches in your carry-on baggage or on your person. For safety reasons, you may not bring “strike anywhere” matches at all.
they took mine from my tray yesterday.. :o

Although it sounds more like kinky bondage sex than trying to blow up a plane.... :o
that was my first thought too, is vaseline ignitable? if it is, we need to rethink our sex life

it is a petroleum-based gel. if you get it hot enough, it will probably ignite. Not sure a standard kitchen match would work tho. And given that torch lighters are supposedly banned, a jar of vaseline isn't much of a weapon. Kinda like trying lighting a shoe in the middle of a crowded plane. Unless you are travelling with a complete group of catatonics, someone is going to notice long before you can get it hot enough..

Thank God (if it was an al Queda operative) for a good backward, 16th century education in a 21st century world..

Gasoline being one.. I believe. tho, unless you are travelling on Aeroflot on the Tiblisi to Chechnayaville run, people might notice that odor. :D
