Anyone stay at the Douglas House in KW?
Has anyone stayed at Douglas House? If so, did you enjoy your stay? It is in the Amelia St/Duval area and I was wondering if that is considered Bahama Village? Will this be a bad area at night should we be out late and walk back to DH? Anyone experience Dry Tortugas? Did you go by boat or plane? Thanks...I am kidnapping my husband the end of September for a surprise 5 day trip. We are not big bar people and not looking to go get drunk for 5 days! I am hoping to do some snorkeling while there, too.

know exactly where it is. I had a room in back, on the Virginia St. side. It was good, clean, relatively-cheap (especially for MOTM) Nothing special, more of a basecamp than anything. Staff was pleasant enough.hemispheredancer05 wrote:Has anyone stayed at Douglas House? If so, did you enjoy your stay? Not really Bahama Village, I was fine walking back to the room every night from either the Casa or down from somewhere on Duval. You could do a lot worse.

I have never stayed there, however the girl I work with stayed there in may and said she liked it alot, the staff was very friendly, in walking distace to pretty much everything, very clean, very well priced, and overall a great place to stay. We are staying in the Cuban Club Suites for MOTM which is part of the douglas house except the units are 2 bedroom and all I think the douglas house has is 1 bedroom untis. I have only heard good things about the place!
I know I dont get there often enough but god knows I surely try

Have stayed there 3-4 times. Nice place to stay, friendly staff and good value. Never felt I was in the wrong part of town but there are bad people in this world (even Key West)...Pretty good walk (I dunno 10-12 blocks) down to the party end of Duval. Stayed there in 2001 or so when Hurricane Michelle was around. Staff was very accomodating (Hi, you should get your butt out of town)
