Memory Foam Mattresses
Anyone using one of these? It's time for a new mattress, and these seem to be coming down in price lately. I laid on one in the store, and it seemed very comfortable, but I'd like to know how they are in the long run.

the gel in the foam is flammable, so if it gets near a source of enough heat...rednekkPH wrote:Anyone using one of these? Are you saying that Frank will have to quit lighting up his crack pipe in bed?RinglingRingling wrote:the gel in the foam is flammable, so if it gets near a source of enough heat...rednekkPH wrote:Anyone using one of these? if he uses a torch lighter to do it.. them new-fangled kitchen matches or his standard "two sticks rubbed together" probably won't be enough.live2ski wrote:Are you saying that Frank will have to quit lighting up his crack pipe in bed?RinglingRingling wrote:the gel in the foam is flammable, so if it gets near a source of enough heat...rednekkPH wrote:Anyone using one of these? My Aunt had one and recently advised me against it.
She said that after awhile indentions from where she my Uncle laid wouldn't leave the bed (and they had a quality one).
While she said it was comfortable, it just really bothered her because of the "holes" in in the bed.
She replaced it after about 2.5 years.
I have recently purchased Memory Foam Pillows and have had them about two weeks....they are comfortable but a little wierd...
I'd advise trying something like that to see what you think of the whole idea before you go all out on a Mattress.

including the emotional scars from wearing camoflauge "teddies" and being spritzed with deer urine to "heighten the mood"?buffettbride wrote:Anything that leaves a memory of sleeping with you, Frankie, has to be a good thing.![]()
Whatever you do, don't go for a "California King" size as it's a b*tch and a half to find sheets the right size.
(Why do I keep hearing "Come on baby light my fire..." playing over and over in my head?)

I have not used one, but have, at times used the pillows. I have also heard they absorb heat and can feel quite warm which might be nice in the winter, but not in August!
I always struggle to find a mattress I like, and may try one of the Sleep Number ones next time.

I hear it involves putting decoys around the bed and blowing a duck call to get his attention...buffettbride wrote:i wonder what christine has to wear to bed when it's duck seasonRinglingRingling wrote:including the emotional scars from wearing camoflauge "teddies" and being spritzed with deer urine to "heighten the mood"?buffettbride wrote:Anything that leaves a memory of sleeping with you, Frankie, has to be a good thing.![]()

that wouldn't freak me out nearly as much as thinking what the previous owners had done with the returned bedsToplessRideFL wrote:Some mattress shops around here have a 30 day trial period... If you dont like it... return it.
However it creeps me out to think of what they do with the return beds.....

And many of them impose many conditions to that making it almost impossible to actually return one. Don't count on being able to return one.ToplessRideFL wrote:Some mattress shops around here have a 30 day trial period... If you dont like it... return it.

I have one of the memory foam mattresses (name withheld
) and LOVE it, but hate the pillows that came with it. The foam will break down over time, but we've had ours 3 years and I can't see any permanent indentations in it or areas that look like they're saggy. It takes some people a few nights to get used to because it is so firm. It kinda depends on what kind of bed you like...my daughter hates the foam mattress because she likes a squishy bed.
