Getting Hitched at a Buffett concert...

Post by Akamphi »

Hi all....

Been a jimmy Buffett fan ever sense I saw him play the elbow room bar in Dutch Harbor Alaska. Tiny little place out in the Aleutians. Danced and sang less then 5 feet from the man most of the night....

Me and my girl friend have decided to tie the knot and want to do it at a Buffett concert. Would be cool if he would just get his show up here but I don't think thats going to happen anytime soon. Were thinking Vegas or Hawaii... We can tell people later that we had Jimmy play our wedding and he happened to bring a few friends!

Anyway... I'll be lurking from Alaska wishing for warm weather and a beach to play on...

Cool! Figured we wouldn't be the first! :) I'm thinking the smaller venue the better. Veges sure would be fun! How big is that place? Here in Alaska there is a process to have anyone do the officiating. It's basicly a one time deal but anyone can marry you if you do the paperwork. Can that be done in Vegas? I'd bet so... Would be way cool to get Jimmy to sign the licence too! :)

Vegas is probably the easiest place as it's probably the easiest place on the planet to get married. Plus, two shows every October make it pretty easy to pinpoint for planning (we planned ours in 7 weeks after being engaged for a year). Vegas is a great venue. When we went to a show there a few years back, two couples had been married that day and he got wind of it and he dedicated a song to them during the show.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena holds over 17,000 people, and that doesn't include the floor.
You better get a great deal on the invitations, and you'd better hurry if you plan to make it this year. Tickets for the 10/21 & 10/28 shows go on sale Monday (8/21).
I'm just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy,
In a world full of pushin' and shove.

The Hawaii shows are smaller venues, think they top out below 10k, possibly lower than that.

You can have anyone you wish do the service. All they have to do is become and Ordained Minister in the Universal Life Church. It can be done in 3 min on the internet and is legal in all 50 states. I can get you the URL if you need it.

Cool! Thanks guys... So he does Vegas every year in Oct? That would be very doable... How often does he make it to Hawaii?

I've just about given up hope on ever seeing him in Alaska again. That show in Dutch Harbor was awesome!

You could make it an imtimate affair and have only family and friends. I think the rate is $250k, not sure if that is the whole CRB or not though. ;)

Congrats, keep us posted.

My husband and I (Travis McGee, who often posts on this website) eloped on the way to 2 nights at Merryweather Post Pavilion waaaaaaay back in 1995.

Having Buffett play our reception was awesome!
...so many nights I just dreamed of the ocean...

Craig,

The caribbean show is spendy $500/ticket plus getting there is no bargain and a place to stay.... You might want to wait for a possible show in Hawaii..tho he has only metioned it in passing that he was gonna go to the "south Pacific"....kinda a big area.... If you can wait he will most likely do Vegas in October again....Great crowd....and a heck of a good time....I don't know if you could get Jimmy to sign your license but if you show up at the LMS party, I'm sure which ever coral reefers where there would sign it.....You could make a quest out of it.....get all the coral reefers to sign it and Jimmy too....who knows where that journey would lead...

And yes I do know you! glad to hear things are good! Me too! Perhaps we'll se ya at the Vegas shows!.....
