Clicked and done.

I wrote my masters thesis on Hemingway .... and I think I've read just about everything written on his life and his works. I can't imagine the house in Key West without the cats.

EGADS. Get government out of the way! :D

Anyone who has ever been to the Hemingway house knows that the cats aren't part of a display. They just hang around (it is their house after all). This is just another example of government b.s. at it's finest.

On another note, my wife and I go to the Hemingway house everytime we're in Key West. We've heard the same stories so much that we could probably give the tour. However, one of the reasons we keep returning is the cats. We love the cats. They're well taken care of and lead a much better life than pretty much everwhere else on the island. The house never went without cats since Papa lived there and it shouldn't be that way now. I don't know if I'd go to the house if all of the cats were gone. It just wouldn't seem right.

Amazing. The stupidity of the government can never be underestimated.

I signed the petition twice ( ) using two legit email addresses (aka try home and work). I hope this doesn't invalidate anything.

I truly don't understand this move - the cats have regular vet care, weekly vet visits, they control the population and it is 'history'. Is there another (local?) side we don't know about?

I have never been to Hemmingway's House in Key West but really enjoyed his Oak Park, IL birthplace and museum. The docents were so knowledgeable and "excited" about it all.

Signed the petition. Hope the cats get a reprieve as they are part of the uniqueness of visiting Key West!

Signed with opinion voiced. Our cats gave us eight paws up for supporting their fellow felines.

One would hope that this is just another internet "legend" if not the government really needs to rethink(do they do that???) their priorities.

Signed the petition. This is ridiculous! To quote JB ... "our tax dollars at work!" :o :o :o

I agree with what was said earlier ... the Hemingway Home is nice to visit once, but the cats are the reason to go back!!
