Jimmys comment at the Great Woods show?
Was anyone offended by the comment Jimmy made at the end of the Great Woods Show on Saturday night about he didn't need to worry about what songs he would play because, as Jimmy said, "I'm a f-----n millionaire so I dont need to worry. I was kind of taken back when he said that. I thought it was a little bold considering all these people paid to see you. Would love to hear your comments. I mean, I'm still a big Buffett fan and am going to see him next month at MSG.

I could care less what songs he plays as long as he's still playing. maybe this is the first step towards him not playing the songs you know by heart constantly and breaking out some different songs like Cowboy In the Jungle... Just kidding we all know that will never happen
Both shows at Greatwoods in June
Seattle and Vegas in October
Girlfriend doesn't realize that shes going to be a parrothead by the end of this summer whether she likes it or not.

but.. if he doesn't do SJPTD (Songs Jimmy Plays To Death), what are the Yellow Album "fans" going to sing along with between puking and dialing their buddies for an involved-conversation?phansheridan wrote:I could care less what songs he plays as long as he's still playing. maybe this is the first step towards him not playing the songs you know by heart constantly and breaking out some different songs like Cowboy In the Jungle... That's not exactly what he said.
He was getting ready to go into Bama Breeze, saying it was a new song and what he actually said was -"I don't need to push another album, you've all made me so rich I don't f***ing care"
That's a little different - the people I was with thought it was funny and honest, what he was saying was essentially buy it or not but I don't have to plug it here to make money in any case.

we thought it was pretty funny. I think this tour jimmys letting it hang out a little more and it seems like he's having more fun....really what does he need to prove to anyone? His comment was a funny way of saying thanks to the crowd. Bottom line is....If we were uptight phans...he wouldn't say it....He knows we're not and most of us got a laugh about it.
Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way

I laughed too. I also took it as he meant that he doesn't do this for money - he does it for the love of the music and the fans, which is what I wish more artists did than to just release a CD full of top 40 crap.ScarletB wrote:That's not exactly what he said.

I know that I am new here, but I have followed his career for a long time. Buffett has always taken a very comical approach to his success, this comment is almost as good as the "I am spending YOUR money foolishly", he is doing what he loves to do and has managed his career very well. If he had not he would still not be touring at 60 years old with 30 albums and only 4 songs played on the radio.
I would not take offense to the comment, or read into to much. laugh with them or be laughed at.

Remember he owns the record company...... so he knows a comment like that won't get him in to any hot water..... If he even thought about it at all...which I doubt....
I thought it was funny, honest...and quite frankly its those little unrehersed backhanded comments that give us a little peak inside the real man... not just the man who is is lucky enough to have the commercial success of being Jimmy Buffett.

Same here. When he came out in Cincy this year and said "We're gonna do a little something different tonight; we're gonna do two hours of yoga!" and then followed that up with a chuckle and "I'm just f***in' with ya!" it was classic Buffett humor.12vmanRick wrote:I wish he'd use the F word more often

If he had actually said, "I'm a f**king millionaire..." That would have certainly been bragging and possibly rude.
But I don't think he said that. I think his comment was actually more like "Thanks for making me so rich.." or something like that. I thought it actually had a note of gratitude in there and a nod towards his fans.
But he's also been know to tell his fans...
"Don't worry! I'm spending your money foolishly!"
I don't think there's a rude or mean bone in his body.
