Another Agassi classic!!
It seems like EVERY year he takes a 5-setter like this! :D
I am exhausted just from watching it.

Did you see, after he talked to McEnroe how stiff he was walking? How is he possibly going to be ready to play Saturday?

He played like 26, walked like 76 :) What a match! Can't believe Baghdatis almost pulled it out with the way he was moving, too. Definitely worth losing sleep over, can't wait for Saturday.

I read where he had to lie down on his way back to the dressing room.

GAWD. What a match. He's something else. :D

Okay he faces the German B. Becker next round. Not Boris, but a rookie ranked 112. Should he win, it could set up a potential 4th round match against Andy Roddick.

Well, finally the end of the line for Andre, but what a great run.
Tearfull farewell speech, showed a lot of class. [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Nice shot of him walking off the court, but they didn't need to follow him all the way down the hall to the locker room.

Yep!
Yep
That hallway didn't look very wide...barely wide enough to accommodate Andre's bag, nevermind the cameraman.

Some of my tennis fan-friends away messages:

"thank you andre agassi for showing me how to love tennis"

"8 time grand slam winner, Andre Agassi, loses to qualifier B. Becker of Germany, 7-5,6-7,6-4,7-5 and is put into retirement....You are one of the greatest players of all time, an inspiration to many, and have done so much for the sport of tennis....You will be greatly missed."

"Bigger-than-life, bold, brash, explosive in style and personality, Andre Agassi swaggered into the US Open as a 16-year-old phenom with big hair, a bigger forehand and an enormous presence. The Open and tennis, for that matter would never be the same."

If you didn't have a chance to read the article on Andre in Sports Illustrated, back in July (and I didn't), you can read it here:

again, thanks for the memories Agassi. Onto the next part of your life. I'm sure it will be an adventure.

BTW- it was wonderful at matches to see his family there including his father who he is rebuilding a relationship with.

I'm not much of a tennis fan but I saw 2 things over the weekend about the U.S. Open I thought were pretty funny. After Andre Agassi lost, and cried, the other day the headline in the Daily News was TENNIS BAWLS. Then there was an article about Andy Roddick kidding around with some friends about the rumor that he's dating Maria Sharapova. Something about the press referring to them as Roddapova, which is "better than Sharadick."
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here
