Okay...my two cents....

Nice video, set, etc. The video is all about imagery and the loss of a special place where those memories had been made but will be created no more. And, it has "hurricane" written all over it. The flashbacks certainly are intended to reach a younger crowd...and that's okay, because it's about "back when we were young". Lulu is great fun...a natural. :D Jimmy does a nice job but is certainly more melancholy than we're used to seeing...but it fits.

Well done...except for the damb ending where every gal toasting the memory with Jimmy is bikini-clad and under-25...it just doesn't fit.... Most of the guys in that scene are too young, too. If Jimmy and the crowd are reflecting back, there'd be a lot more credence to it if a few of those surrounding him looked to be at least half his age   ....(really, really stupid error, Trey director). :-? (It'd be like putting an 8 month old infant in the Trip Around the Sun video...when they haven't even made it once around, yet.) Too bad, because otherwise it would have been really good.

Nice song, though. :)

Not meaning to pick on you PJ, but since when does one do "repairs" with a steam shovel??? :o

I like the video and think it works great. The crowd in the flash back scenes is young and vibrant. When they toast the bar at the end it's the same crowd. I think that works well. There would be some disconnect if they showed and older crowd. No one really wants to see themselves growing older, so having the young crowd there works for me.

I see your point with what you said above. However, I think marketing can be to blame here. We, as parrotheads, will buy the CD and support Jimmy in whatever he does. They video seems to be geared towards the youger crowd with those bikini clad girls and young guys.

I agree, while watching it I just couldnt help but feel awkward with all those young people areound Jimmy... I understand the flashbacks and everything, but I think at the end when Jimmy was toasting the place and hanging out with the crowd, it should have been an older crowd to symbolize the "now", and not the "back when"

OK, repairs was a horrible choice of words in my post. However, I have seen some instances where a portion of a building is damaged and the damaged section is demo'd with a wreckingball or other method and then rebuilt, in essence repairing the building by the destruction and rebuilding of one damaged section.

Given, the Flora-Bama/fire Dog/Bama Breeze could never be repaired in such a manner.

To clarify, I have no problem with all the younger ones in the flash-back footage.... But the toast at the end should have a bit more "balance."

I'll be in Bay Wave tomorrow and will go by the Fire Dog and have another look to see if it's still there. The sand brought in for the video was still there when I went by it the other day.

Has anyone actually been to Waveland post Katrina? It's beyond astounding how much water rolled through there. The official storm surge - at least from what I've seen on the Weather Channel - is listed as 28 feet. But my friend's house in Bay St Louis is 26 feet above sea level, raised two feet off the ground, and they got 2 feet of the Gulf Of Mexico in their house. That's a 31 foot storm surge in Bay St Louis, at least right there. And they're about a half mile or so North of the train tracks. I heard about a town meeting in Waveland that the phone company repairmen found several phone poles with grass embedded in them at 40.6 feet above sea level. Having been through there (not ALL of Waveland) I can see where it's possible the storm surge might have been higher than that even. 3 storey tall houses gutted, at least of what remains. The wind there was bad too.

Of course, not every area got 30-40 feet of water. But there's barely any structure left. There's almost nothing at all. It's just stunning. All these idiots on the news saying "People of the Gulf Coast are STILL cleaning up" blah blah blah - OF COURSE THEY ARE! It's going to be a long time too.

Besides, no one has ever accused Jimmy's music of being "deep" - so why start now? ;)
