I think I'll start drinking now...

I have an executive board meeting of the PTA and I'm plugging in all the numbers for the budget this year. Plus, I'm going to have to go toe-to-toe with a chairperson that did not handle her budget in the manner she described in great detail in front of the membership last fall. UGH

Going in drunk will give you an excuse when you don't meet your budget

My sympathies. I've often wanted to drink several tall boat drinks before even just GOING to a PTA meeting, much less having to be a center of attention!

forget toe-to-toe, have her belly up to the bar and see what she's got.
It's the adult way to handle differences.

I'm thinking about being a PTSO mom this year (we don't have a PTA). If it drives me to drink, is that a good thing???

Well, maybe if you like drinking

Seriously though, I like being involved in the planning aspect although it is a time consumer.
It went okay I guess. It was an executive board meeting so just 5 people inside a private home. That's the reason I took a bottle of wine. I'd hate for people here to think I'm toting wine into the school

I don't want to be on the board or anything.

I'm totally the parent the principal warned you about.

But the meetings are only once a month and it would be kinda nice to have a better clue of how all those decisions get made. They actually do a pretty good job.
The main thing that has changed since we started going there, is the number of selling-stuff fundraisers have been reduced. There's only 1 sell-stuff fundraiser, a fun-run, and a dinner/dance/auction thing.

Maria started back on the PTA board and for her first meeting took one of her "loopie pills" an hour before.
Says it really help puts things in perspective.

My daughter is going to a new school...they don't do any fundraisers - they simply ask parents for money. I gave more generously then I ever have because I am not going to have to deal with ANYTHING! I love it.

I got high blood pressure (for which I take medicine) because I did all that stuff: PTO, committees, chairperson-ing, going on field trips, senior class trips, fundraising...for both my children, for 18 years.
But the times I spent with my kids and their friends was worth it.
You only get so much time with your kids. And their friends were like my kids....they now bring THEIR kids around !
Dealing with other parents are the problem.
a little drinky poo after a meeting once in a while......

It's an awesome idea! We almost went completely that way, but the Gold C coupon fundraiser is very rooted at the school and the dance/dinner/auction thing is actually a lot of fun.
The Fun Run is in memory of the mom of two of the students at the school who was murdered a few years ago.
I'd be sooo happy just to write a check at the beginning of the year.
