I was reading the Halifax, Nova Scotia newspaper on the weekend, and in particular an article about producer Brian Ahern who is receiving a lifetime achievement award tonight at the Canadian Country Music Awards. From the article, regarding his current projects ....."He just finished a track, Speed of Sound, for a new Ethan Hawke movie, has plans in the works for a TV series (he won’t discuss the details), is halfway through a new album with ex-wife Emmylou Harris, and has just remixed 60 songs for Jimmy Buffet."
Could it be that the Pirate may be looking at 60 this year and time for more reflection?
Cheers from PEI, Canada

Sounds cool, though did he really say Buffet?? Maybe there's a Canadian cover band that goes by the commonly mistaken name??
Or maybe he's helping Jimmy with his iPod?

Here's a link to the story:

Not much else to see, but I wanted to look for it. And yes, the paper has him listed as Jimmy Buffet.

There is an email address:
hfraughton@herald.ca
But since the article is from Nova Scotia, perhaps
tikitas should "educate" the author...

I noted the address and even have it open in an e-mail on my desktop, but don't think I'll do anything further but delete it.
Since the article isn't about Jimmy I'll let the author live in peace today.

Regardless of the missing "t", I gotta say... 60 songs / turning 60? Very interesting prospect!!!

He is listed as having a mixing credit on the Wrigley Field DVD....this would explain 29 of the 60 tracks

(go to the album credits at the bottom of the link to see his name listed)

I'm hoping for a Special Edition version of "BBBB" with DVDs, updated booklet, more songs, etc. Or a "BBBB Vol. 2" that's got nothing to do with the original, which would be an entirely new collection.
Wouldn't THAT be nice!
And speaking of "BBBB", why wasn't "Great Heart" on it? Seems to be a PH favorite.

there were a lot of songs on that one that could have been left off, and others that didn't make the cut from that timeframe that should have

Couldn't agree more. Although I like "Elvis Imitators", I think it could have been left off--I think it only made the cut because it was a previously unreleased track (and probably as a tribute to Steve Goodman, too). I would also not have minded the exclusion of the SYKBH songs in favor of stuff like "Great Heart" and "Boomerang Love", to name a few.
Also, ringing, do you have any pics from this year's Indy show?

odd that you should mention that.. Have a few from the lot and the bus and the party at the hotel. I think the Triada might have kept me from shooting more.

That rekindles my sorrow for not being able to get to Verizon earlier than I did! Still, a tremendous show.

That's got to be an error - remastered sixty songs perhaps but not remix - that would take forever. Similar to people saying that the BBBB set was remixed when it was remastered. Perhaps some better editing to some tracks as well, that would be nice.
Mention of Elvis Imitators and the SJPTD tracks on BBBB - there are other unreleased tracks that could have filled up one disc alone with the previously unreleased tracks that are on BBBB. That would have been nice.
