5x listens-if it wasn't for the 'Here We Are' video, there wouldn't be anything I'd want to hear live. Hope he shows up at MOTM and does HWA. If not, I'll be able to see Sunny Jim White and Jim Morris 4 or 5 days in a row.

Okay I've been soaking it up for for a few days. My take:
Bama Breeze - Great song, has a top 40 Chesney feel to it, at least the guitar solo does.
PATEOTW - After hearing him butcher it live I was afraid it would not be great but I love it! Lots of clever wordplay. Calypso fun!
Weather With You - Decent song, not great. Should not have been the title track.
Everybody's On The Phone - a fun song that reminds me of Homemade Music. Mr T sounds great on it.
Whoop De Doo - Sounds like Anytime, Anything, Anywhere Part 2. I like it
Nothin' But A Breeze - The first of 3 songs in a row of tropical bliss.
Love it!
Cinco in Memphis - Love the horn, Great song!
Reggabilly Hill - I love this one and think that Jimmy's voice sounds great on this one. The pans are nice too.
Elvis Presley Blues - a good upbeat 2 step number.
Hula Girl At Heart - Another good one. Somehow it reminds me of Boomerang Love.
Wheel Inside The Wheel - This one is growing on me. The band rocks on it.
Silver Wings - I've never heard Merle's version but Im sure it can't compete with this Buffettized number. Love the pans!
Breathe in, Breathe Out, Move on - Great ballad! Right up there with Souvenirs, Changing Channels and the like.
Here We Are - FINtastic tribute to us Parrotheads, even with the reference to Dave friggin' Mathews
Duke's On Sunday - Pretty good song. Could have been a little more tropical sounding. I'm not sure if Jake is on it but if so it could have used more ukelele. Still I like it.
Overrall I give it 4 stars. I could not care less which songs he wrote, they sound like Buffett songs to me and when I got into this years back I did not care nor did I know if he wrote them or not.
It's quite tropical sounding with lots of pans, more of Fingers, and if you notice, Jimmy's voice sounds great.
Seems like on License To Chill Jimmy got back to singing, not that he was not before but I've noticed that his voice sounds better to me on this one and the last one.
Maybe someone was at the sessions making sure he sounded great, I don't know! A really good album imo.

He needs to bring Heather back if he's going to do that song live.
Maybe if I say it enough he'll listen to me.

Ok, after reading all of the posts I surprised that so many of you didn't like Elvis Presley Blues, I think its great. Compaired to the original which is just vocals and guitar, Jimmy made this song his all his own.
The only song I don't like is Everybody's on the phone.
Another great album by Jimmy. He shows no sigh of coasting.

and here, surprise of surprises, we might have to agree to disagree. I could do without the Elvis Presley Blues, even if it sounds like the Tennessee Three is backing him; and Everybody's on the Phone is a pleasant earworm.

~Hippolyte~ wrote:I've now listened, mainly as background music, some while driving and a little as my sole concentration. So here's my two-cents:
......4 - Everybody's on the Phone - Upbeat, fun song. I like this one.
5 - Whoop De Doo - I know I'll find a time and place for this slow one, but haven't just yet.
6 - Nothing But A Breeze - Good story, good tempo - easy to dance to (you knew I'd say that in here somewhere)
7 - Cinco de Mayo in Memphis - Growing on me, but not an instant hit. We'll see??
8 - Reggabilly Hill - Growing on me, but not an instant hit. We'll see??
9 - Elvis Presley Blues - Following the last two, for me, this one doesn't bring the excitement of the album back......
I've figured how to raise the enjoyment level of any or all of the new tunes.....turn it up past 11!!!
Maybe it also helps that I'm packing for Vegas??
