I got to pick up the CD on Monday. $12.99 @ Target if anyone cares, but I was already there. ;)

I have to say there is only ONE song I don't care for. I don't DISLIKE it, it's just "OK" - and that's "Wheel Inside The Wheel" - and ONLY because I don't like it when Jimmy 'talks' on a song. The lyrics are GREAT and when the singing begins, I love it. :)

Otherwise I really enjoy each song. They're happy, soulful, whimsical, thoughtful, wonderful sounds of voices and instruments. Simply put? I like it. :D

I really like Everybodys on the Phone, Bama Breeze, Breathe in, and the title track. The rest aren't bad either.

Am loving Duke's on Sunday (Maui Girl that I am) and I like the title track.

Silver Wings is a sentimental favorite of mine, so I like that Jimmy's covered it.

I kinda like Whoop De Doo....I *love* getting-over-you songs and this one's a keeper.

I like BIBOMO a lot, too.

I so understand Everybody's on the Phone. That's my life these days.

Just got the CD today, so I'm still settling in with it, but those are my thoughts on first pass. :D

I bought mine the day it came out, and FINALLY got a chance to listen to it last night. No big surprise, but I like each and every song on there. When I originally saw the track list, I sort of flinched when I noticed "Silver Wings" was one of the cover songs. But I absolutely LOVE Jimmy's version of it-accordians & all. A country/western tune with a bit of a zydeco touch.
Jimmy Buffett is a musical genius, and he shows it more and more with each album.
I don't care if it's his own songs or one he chooses to cover-whatever he does, he does BRILLIANTLY.

Thanks, Jimmy. You make being old fun.

How a piece of crap like Party at the End of the World ever made it on there is beyond me but I've been enjoying the rest of the album very much.

I recorded the RM/Sirius album debut, listened to the live versions from the shows but never actually gave a listening session to this one...until I got it as a present a few days ago.

I think the album is GREAT! I listened to it over and over again- at least 10 times- I had some driving to do so I kept it running.

Jimmy albums are like wine. Sometimes you feel like having red or white. Sometimes you feel like a merlot or a chardonnay. I have heard people blast the album and/or certain songs. For me, this album is great and all of the tracks on it. Jimmy, once again, has put a smile in my heart. That's why I LOVE him. He gives us a piece of himself in every song he creates. We can internalize it and make it a part of our lives.

With each new album JB puts out, I try to find a favorite song. No, I have learned that i can't pick one out as my favorite. One minute I will want to hear Elvis Presley Blues, the next-Party At The End O f The World and so forth. The same goes for albums. I cant pick a favorite because there is a part of me that needs to hear each one on any given day. Take The Weather With You is another one for my medicinal roladex of soul soothing.

Thanks Jimmy!!!!

Been a while since I've posted on here. Lost my password, etc. Kind of fell out of the J.B. scene as I've just not been too happy with the music out of him the past few years.

As a Parrot Head of 20 years, I'm not sure I've ever been so disappointed in a CD as Take the Weather With You. Before anyone jumps on me, we are all welcome to our opinions. What is lacking on this CD as with the majority of music since Barometer Soup is original J.B. creativity and energy. In recent years it seems that each CD is increasingly just show up and sing something and produce a CD. This is no exception to me. While I'm not a country fan, one thing I'll give License to Chill credit for was a new creative approach. It had some shining moments even through the country twang.

Here is my take on the new CD.

1)Bama Breeze: Actually a strong start to the CD. Has a very Buffett feel to it. I'd have sworn he wrote it. I like this one for sure.

2) Party at ... World: Right here is where the CD falls apart. Terrible writing, IMO. The song has a production feeling of a Disney Aladdin song. The back ground vocal junk ... well ... bites. Wow this song is sooooo bad. Unfortunately his name is credited as co-writing this garbage.

3) Weather with You: This song has absolutely no Buffett feel for me. While it might be a good song, it just is not Buffett, IMO. His voice is lost in this song with the assisting vocals.

4) Everybody's on the Phone: The lyrics on this song are decent. Nice to have the touch of Fingers back. BUT there is that megaphone verse and talking again at the end of a song! UGGGGG. I can't stand this song.

5) Woop De Doo: I can't play this song in the car for fear of falling asleep. End of discussion.

6) Nothin' But a Breeze: OK, the CD finally takes a turn. It had to get better. Pretty good song, good Buffett feel. In general, not too bad of a tune. Wish Buffett was the author, but a good song.

7) Cinco De Mayo in Memphis: I liked this song from the first listen. Creative lyrics, good twist mixing Mexico with a little bit of The King. I like it. Again, another song that J.B. did not write (see a trend?).

8 ) Reggabilly Hill: A good song (again not by J.B.) The song seems to have deep roots in an important event. So I did some digging, yet even J.B. doesn't seem to know the roots of the lyrics. I think it is important to understand the meaning behind a song that obviously has a rooted meaning. I guess I lose a little respect when a guy can't find out why this was an important song to record. Still a good song. Would love to know the story.

9) Elvis Presley Blues: Now I'm a fan of the King and a blues song (even by J.B.) about Elvis is long over due. But this song just flat misses the golden opportunity with a lack of creativity in lyrics. I get that he "shook it", but the man did a lot of other stuff too. Another song that could have been so good, yet just falls flat.

10) Hula Girl at Heart: FINALLY! A J.B. song. The music has a familiar feel and admittedly upon the first listen I thought it was an opener for Lilo and Stitch. BUT a few listens to the lyrics and I was hooked. The song takes me back to J.B. of the late 80's and early 90's. I simply love this song. IMO, the best true J.B. song on the CD. Oh ... and he wrote it! I knew he still had it in him.

11) Wheel Inside the Wheel: Hip beat and I really like the picking. What rocks about this song is the back ups of Nadirah (Oh how I love the girl!) and the horns rule in this song. Lyrics are good. BUT (there had to be one) what is with talking through it and not singing it? I feel like I'm listening to Lou Reed (the original rapper). The approach to the lyrics just kills this one for me. Too bad too because I could listen to Nadirah all day.

12) Silver Wings: OMG this is bad. An accordion? Mix in a Ukulele, man what a bad combo. I can't even stomach listening to this song.

13) Breath in Breath out Move on: If the Phone Doesn't Ring ... very similar. Not bad though. I actually love the lyrics. Very J.B. lyrics ... again he authored it! He's got it in him still. Great song, very well arranged, very well done.

14) Duke's on Sunday: I don't know Duke's, but this is a strong finisher to this CD. Not my favorite, but a good finisher. Different in a very good way.

15) Here We Are: What can I say? Not the best J.B. song, BUT very touching and shows how much he loves his phans. I really think he does believe we are all a part of his family and is very grateful for what this following has done for him. Very very very nice touch to the CD. My only wish is that not only had this been in video format, but also in audio format so that we could listen in the car or at home in the CD player. Thank you for a very good tribute to the phans and concert life J.B.

In all, even with the few bright spots in this CD I was very very disappointed. Like many J.B. CD's in recent times, this one had all the potential in the world and it just falls so short, IMO. I really think that J.B. needs to take the time to actually write 90% of the song on the next CD. Take the time and put down good lyrics for good songs again. There are a couple songs on this CD that prove he can do it.

Oh, J.B. please lose the Hawaii fascination and get back to the real islands in the Caribbean ... Please!

Still a Phan after all these years.

Got my copy of the new record today in Daphne, AL at a little local record store for a total of $17 something. I did not want to give my money to the China loving Wal Mart or the French lame Target, etc....

Great album. Could miss off with PATEOTWorld and Silver Wings.

I finally got this album for Christmas (My wife bought it right after it came out and then made me wait till Christmas to get it )
Anyway, I enjoy most of the songs although I am already sick of PATEOTW. My 5 year old and 9 year old love that song and now every time we're in the car, we have to play it at least twice.

Ughhhhhhh, you have to play PATEOTW because of your kids? Oh that's just wrong! That song should have been left off.

Wow. I must be.......weird. [smilie=asa.gif] Loved BB when I downloaded it from iTunes, but listened to it too much. Love PATEOTW, love WWY, love Silver Wings. Whoop De Do is NOT the Mark Knopfler song I wanted to hear....Postcards from Paraguay would have been my first choice. Not a big fan of EOTP. Novelty song. Duke's is pretty good. Other than that, I'll listen to the rest when they pop up on my shuffle.
