Well if he meant "Shades of Grey".....that is actually a Bob Weir song which you can find on ACES album......I think Shades of Grey might be a little too slow for Jimmy....And I think the reason Bob Weir stopped playing it so much is bc of the lack of interested for the song....I'm still hoping that Jimmy pulls out a ROW JIMMY!!!!!

This song tugs at my heart like no other. I lost a baby in 1997. I came home from the hospital. Hubby turned on the TV. It was on VH1. Eric Clapton spoke to me like no other person alive could. Great timing??? God healing my hurts??? Either way, hearing Jimmy do this one would be the best for me. Great suggesation!

IF he has to do a cover (Buffett has enough material of his own to do a full show with his songs) then, how about Time Stand Still by Rush or Permanent Vacation (yes I know a stretch but it would be funny to see him try this song).

Actually, he has enough GREAT stuff of his own to fill many shows....but he does covers so well too, that my list would be :
...Jesse Winchester's Yankee Lady
...September Grass
...Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight
...Gulf Coast Highway (I know he did it once, but it needs exposure maybe with Nadirah? or a female guest--take your pick
...maybe something else by Michael Garrett? Anyone who could write Reggabilly Hill has to have other good ones, right?

I don't see him ever recording it (in Jimmy's current "country" phase, who knows), but a couple of weeks ago I heard Willie Nelson's On The Road Again. Listening to the lyrics, it's right out of Jimmy's songbook...
...Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
...Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again
...The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
I think the song is so closely identified with Willie, it would be hard for anybody to cover, but a Buffettized version might be interesting.
