iTunes downloads are protected files. The user needs to authenticate the copy of iTunes to play the purchased file. The Norweigian kid who figured out how to beat the DVD encryption scheme seems to have found a way around part of the iTunes copy protection.silverbetty wrote:iTunes downloads are protected files. It was only a matter of time, right? Good find. Here's a link to a story I found on this.RinglingRingling wrote:The Norweigian kid who figured out how to beat the DVD encryption scheme seems to have found a way around part of the iTunes copy protection.

I went to buy the new CD for a second time through iTunes so I could get the exclusive video, but it is not listed anymore. Anyone know anything about this. Anyone seen the vid floating around out there somewhere? I'm a completist and have to have it.

I was just reading the above blog, so I too went to iTunes to investigate. The album is still there, but "Party At The End Of The World" (the video) is indeed gone!
iTunes really sucks, or maybe its Mailboat Records, or RCA, etc, etc, etc. . . why couldn't they have just included both videos on the CD and quit trying to nickel and dime the consumer to no end. I think the initial thought was to sell the CD with "Here We Are" and the download with "PATEOTW" but jeez. . . even when it was available, you had to prchase the album to get the video - so guess what, I got suckered into buying it twice.
So guess what again - anyone that wants it - I'll give you my copy in protest. I'll have to email it to you one by one, but I'll send you my copy.
If you can defeat the copy protection. . . its yours to enjoy.
Just PM me.

Probably the same reason License To Chill isn't available either. I think Mailboat's relationship with iTunes is a tenuous one.RumFan wrote:Anyone know why the songs from the Hoot soundtrack were never on Itunes?
