She does now. And, she promises she can keep a secret. I believe her.

Anyone who can stare the doctors down and will her 2-year old back to life from menningitis (sp? I'm too tired to check it) and then prove the doctors wrong when they told her the child would never be anything but a vegetable is my kind of STEEL MAGNOLIA ... and I trust her to keep still from now until Saturday morning! :D

Oh. BTW: Wayland turns 42 on December 26.

:o What a woman she must be, ................and to think that it all started with this

Ya'll know how I am a sucker for the underdog ... the less fortunate ... and someone who gives it everything they have ...

I know most of ya'll aren't into cycling, but hear me out on this one.

I was covering the 18th Annual Tour d'Trails (cycling race) this past Saturday and had the opportunity to meet a very special young man from near Paris, Texas

This, to me, is what Christmas is all about...........Thanks. :D

Has anyone sent you a Camelbak / hydration backpack?
How about a miniature pump that goes on the bike frame?
If not I can overnight one or both to you tomorrow.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

I have to tell y'all one other thing about Waylan ... he has ridden in all the area cycling tours and has for years as our EPT has said ... but when I organized the Tour de Paris for my city for the past twenty-two years, he would be the first person to walk through my door to register for it every single year. When I told him that I had taken up riding, he would stop by prior to registering for other tours to talk me into riding in them as well. He is such a nice guy!!

I never noticed how ratty his stuff was because all of my gear is heavily used. New gear doesn't matter to me nor does it to Waylan, until it breaks. Sounds like Waylan's is getting ready to break.

Well, when Terry first called me about wanting to do a story on him, little did I know that she would take it to this level. But, that's our ETP ... she redefines "this level" every time she takes on an endeavor.

While I am so happy for Waylan and grateful that I get to be there when the presentation is made, I am so proud of ETP for her strong sense of selflessness.

And OMG ... y'all should have been there when she bopped into the pub last night wearing her sunglasses and pink flamingo headband!!!

Okay....I just can't stand it. I am "this" close to jumping in the Camry and driving the heck to Texas so I can witness this event first-hand on Saturday!

And I know what you mean, rhum chum, about our phriend ETP. When I pitched this idea to a couple of people to get them to donate stuff, I basically said that my phriend (I said it with a "ph") Terry in Texas has gotten it in her mind that this is going happen, and when she says something's going to happen, it's by GAWD gonna happen and happen RIGHTCHOUSLY!!!

Awww...ya'll are sweet.

The Sulphur Springs Pilot Club has agreed to purchase a "trainer" for Wayland ... a trainer is kinda like a kickstand and turns a road racing bike into a stationary one ... Pilot President was on the phone with me asking what else they could do while "the boys" (Wyrick and Wilson) were holding the line waiting to tell me that Wayland's going to need time on the trainer before spinning in his new EYE-talian shoes with cleats, which, by the way, arrived today!

It continues to get better. :D

I am so excited about this!
I was updating one of my coworkers, who has been gracious enough to keep asking about our progress, about it a little while ago and actually started to tear up when I realized just how MUCH STUFF and services has been donated. [smilie=happy.gif]

It keeps getting better and better.

One of the cyclists from the board I visit has agreed to pay Wayland's entry fee to *any* race we've not already covered ....

And ... "my boys" are going to get him into the Hotter 'n Hell race in Wichita Falls next year.

Looks like there will be about 19 or 20 at the big to-do tomorrow!

Photos and story to go up as soon as possible!

Ya'll did good. Thanks for coming through for a really great cause ... yet again.

Great work, everyone.

And ETP, good luck tomorrow! :D :D

We'll all be anxiously awaiting your report!

Here's what I'm loading up for Wayland tomorrow. The photo on the left is what started this whole project. The three winners are holding about $15,000 worth of equipment. Wayland was so happy I asked him to stand with the winners. The big bow is on the new pump!

The other photo is of "my boys" - Ray Wyrick, Brian Wyrick and Bob Wilson. They are my inspiration.

Check out the helmet and check out those EYE-talian shoes phrom my sweet Alison and Uncle Mickey.

The phlowers are phor his sweet mama! Couldn't leave her out.

Aren't we lucky to have been part of all of this goodness?
