Just wanted to bring this thread BTT with an update.

One of my readers has a son (in the Marines-North Carolina) who rides.

She sent him an email about my column.

He's going to check and see if he can't find a FRAME for our cause.

Another reader who used to live in Dallas emailed his former bike club for donations.

Doncha just love it when a plan comes together?

Thanks, my BN family for your great, good hearts.

That's okay. We're not in a hurry. It's all coming together.

Thanks, kitty. :D Someday we'll meet (not meat).

The kid is getting a brand new bike instead of a pieced together one!

Thanks, BN!

Your donations made this possible.

Oh this makes me SO happy! I hadn't heard anything from my cousin...hate when I have to rely on other people to help with my good deeds...
Does he need anything else that we can contribute to??

*IF* your cousin could get his hands on some promotional jerseys, kits, shorts, etc... size Men's Medium....that would be wonderful.

A cyclist friend of mine from another board in California sent a box full of gels, goo, bars, etc. I have a cat eye for the handlebars, thanks to Mr. Play.

My friend at the bike shop in Wichita Falls is getting a flat kit, some tubes and tires and other maintenance-type stuff together.

So...anything you can put together would be great, kitty. We welcome cash, too! We got a great price on the bike, but we can always use more green stuff!

Well holy crap this is cool!
I don't know anyone who is remotely connected cycling but I'm so inspired by all this.....I'll send you a check (small though it may be) to help out. Look for it in a LandAmerica envelope.

My husband used to ride-- I'll see if I can scare up some of his equipment. Do you need anything in particular right now? Send me a PM and I'll see what I can find. :D

Incoming. Thanks! This project just keeps getting better and better.

Wayland will probably be able to ride a race a month for the next year and not have to wear the same jersey twice! :D :D :D

You have no idea how thrilled this young man is going to be. I've talked to friends of the family. He lives with his elderly mom and does pick up jobs to get gas money to go to races. The family has nothing and no way to help him.

This is a good thing we're doing. Prolly one of the better things I've done in a long time.

Thanks, freaky4tiki!

Yep. I'm one lucky parrothead chick!

The Winnsboro Crew...Bob, Ray and John (no, I did not make up their names)....is also donating. They're serious cyclists and they wanted Wayland to have the best....

Compare that photo with this one. Can't believe I get to be part of something this good!
