Update!

The Winnsboro Pilot Club has waived all entry fees for our boy in upcoming Tour d' Trails events.

Is that kewl or what?

Now, I'm going to talk to the local gas stations and get his fuel donated for the trip from Paris to Winnsboro.

We've found a new bike...different from the one I posted yesterday. A step up for just a pinch more money! Here's what it looks like.

I know, sweet SGH. I know. This project has been the only bright light in an otherwise very sad week for me, too!

Dallas cyclists have mailed box.

Plano cyclists are gathering clothes. They have a lead on a pair of shoes.

Quitman couple are going to give a helmet.

Lots of people have been out on eBay looking for just the right fit.

The husband of the Winnsboro Pilot Club is picking up the shipping charges to get the bike to Texas.

Never underestimate the goodness of the human heart.

The dude has *NO* clue.

RhumChum knows a friend of the family who works at Paris Junior College. She put me in touch with this guy and he got the sizes, etc. for us and is going to help us with logistics.

Isn't this just the most fun ... I mean, the most fun you can have OUTSIDE a Jimmy Buffett show? :D

Or grinning too wide to maintain focus.

My guys (Bob, Ray, John and Brian) are going to school him in the basic fundamentals of maintenance. We're going to write it all down so he will remember.

I'm going to show his mama how to take care of the clothes (mild detergent, air/line dry) to extend the life of his new threads!

I'm also taking pre-written thank you notes to everyone who helped so all he has to do is sign his name. :)

The Dallas peeps, the Winnsboro Pilots, my guys and the Quitman couple who have helped a lot are going to be there when we make the presentation. Won't that just be the most EXCELLENT photo op????

ETP...you're awesome! This is a wonderful story. :D

Will you be there to take some pictures when he receives his gifts? Talk about a true Kodak moment.... Those are pictures I'd love to see.

Any chance a tropical/Buffettesque sticker will go on the back of his new helmet? :)

Hey, Q&S. Thanks! It's pure joy from my point of view, for sure.

Of course there will be photos ... AND a story....otherwise, what kind of journalist would I be? :D

If someone can get a sticker to me, I'll put it on the helmet! That's a GREAT idea! Thanks for thinking of it. I've been concentrating so hard on the essentials, I forgot the fun stuff!

What's your time frame on having this all together for him, ETP?

I didn't see anything quite right online but can swing by Orlando returning from Tampa to look if that's not too late....

Bike has been ordered off eBay. The Dallas/Plano people should be sending their boxes in the next few days.

We have time.

Thanks so much! You rock, Q&S.

Alison: Mailboat arrived. THANKS! That was sooo sweet of you!
