Am waiting for gear from Plano and for the boys here to get the bike put together.

I'll put this up here, just b/c it made me feel good to read it. I had sent an email this morning to Lisa, who was at the Dallas show (they weren't technically part of Hoot Island, but were a little farther away in the parking lot. Lisa is actually my brother's niece by marriage. Rod is her husband, and is/was into cycling in some capacity. I copied Terry's first post and the picture in it. Here is Lisa's reply:

Hi Allison!

Yes, I met you on Hoot Island! I could never forget DAVE’S sister.

This is a nice story (made me tear up). I will forward it to Rod; I am sure he has something to contribute and if he doesn’t, money always works! The picture came through fine and speaks a thousand words.

Thank you for including us in such a thoughtful gesture!

Hope to see you again sometime!

Lisa

Alison: As usual, you rock my world! Thanks for reaching out to these people.

This is going to be the 'best' Christmas season in a long time for all of us involved in this very worthwhile project!

Love you to the moon and back.

Many, many thanks to SGH and CandyLMT for the donations. We now have enough to get Wayland a new helmet.

I talked to the family contact this afternoon.

We're going to try to hook up at Wayland's church on the morning of the 9th for the presentation.

He *still* doesn't have a clue.

Tonight, at the Asleep at the Wheel show, I met a member of the Sulphur Springs Pilot Club and told her about our project.

SHE KNOWS WAYLAND....he won their spring race one year on that held-together-by-black-tape bike.

He wanted to buy her daughter in law's bike, but didn't have the money. Well, now, he won't have to ride a second-hand bike. He'll have NEW wheels and he can really fly!

She's going to arrange it so that Wayland's entry fees for their races!

It just keeps getting better and better! :D

Thanks, OCG. This is one of the best projects I've ever worked on!

God Bless You, Santa/Wayne. ((((Santa/Wayne))))

Santa/Wayne has offered to pay for Wayland's entry fee in the next Tour 'd Paris (Texas) ... where RhumChum lives.

She organized the first Tour d'Paris years ago ... and said Wayland rides it every year.

I love BuffettNews ... and the good people who hang out here!

:o

Some people can fix anything with bailin' wire and <strike>duct</strike> black electrical tape.

It's going to be a lot of fun to see how he does with proper equipment and a new bicycle! :D

Can you believe it, E-ster? I can hardly wait. I'm going to follow him around all season just to see how he places with his new wheels!

He'll be the new "hot shoes" on the circuit!

And *you* helped make it happen! ((((Elrod))))
