I agree with Anon. that Where's the Party is among the saddest. But wasn't it written by Steve Goodman not Jimmy....

Also Love in Decline is pretty depressing, as are most of the songs on Riddles in the Sand. You can tell Jimmy was not in a good place at that time. (It's my favorite album though!)

parrotheads one and all!! i agree in part with john b. none of his songs make me sad, but oh how i relate to so many of them, hell, all of them. But for me the closet relate is "In the Shelter and Banana Republic", also "Livingstons gone to texas. On another note, not long ago my 6 year old grandson(who attends concerts with me in the summer)asked, "why doesnt anyone speak to the captain no more"? i don't know if i answered correctly. can anyone help me out?

I can,t get thru the first chorus of "FALSE ECHOS" without remembering the last few years of my own fathers life. While reading all your postings I,ve had time to listen to most of the tunes,I've never really considered how often the songs I've for all practicle purposes takin for granted were the very songs that truly have made most of us phans......
