Jimmy: What a way to close an album. If you've ever been to Duke's, and seen Henry Kapono playing at Duke's in Waikiki, I played there awhile back and listened to him do that song. I gotta have a little bit of Hawaii in me wherever I go. And again, this song, and then what we did with an arrangement and what Mac and Michael did to arrange this, ah, I don't think Henry's heard it so maybe if Henry's listening to R.., I don't know if they get, I don't know if the satellite's up over in Hawaii, I'll have to ask Scott about that... Henry is great, but get there early as the seats fill up fast. He even took a picture with the frog.

April 17, 2005, 2 days before the Buffett show. Sitting at Duke's with my friend Ted having a drink. Charleston walks by. Henry's out there on the beach singing. Buffett walks out and sings Margaritaville with him. My camera is back at the hotel.

Listen to the song Volcano on the Live in Hawaii CD. I love the way Henry sings. If you like Hawaii at all, it will be your favorite version of the song.

no argument on the view . . . I prefer the North Shore area. Not as built up and loud. I guess I am just surprised that Jimmy chose such a tourist trap to write a song about. There are so many better hole in the wall kind of places where the locals hang and tell real stories. Sorry - and I know I will get it for this comment - but Dukes is too much like Margaritaville in Key West . . . a Disneyland like tourist trap boutique. Time could be spent way better in other spots. To each our own - I suppose.

But as SharkOnLand noted above, Jimmy didn't write the song.... Henry Kapono did.... And since Henry actually does play at Duke's, on Sunday afternoons, thus the song....

Waikiki is not my favorite spot on Oahu... not by a long shot.... but Dukes always gets a visit for a mai tai and mahi mahi (although Buzz's in Kailua does a better mahi, IMHO), and a Sunday afternoon with Henry Kapono when possible.
