Jimmy Buffett Travel Guide

Post by doxadive »

Thinking through songs I was wondering who else has added destination to their travel desires because of lyrics in Jimmy's songs. Obviously, Key west is a guide by itself with Fausto's, Copt. Tony's, Chart Room, Louie's Backyard, etc. Then there is also Cafe DuMonde in N.O. and now Duke's in Waikiki. Where else would you or have you traveled to because of the lyric in a song of Jimmy's?

I'm still not sure why Jimmy moved the Tavernier Hotel off Taveriner to Ramrod Key, but, whatever...

I want to see Tierra Del Feugo now more than ever. My daughter spent a semester in Chile and went on a week long trip down there. She said it was amazing. :o Of course, I'll need some major booze or drugs to be able to sit on such a long flight.... Oh...hitting the lottery would also be helpful.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Outside of KW, I can't think of many.... :o

Most of the time, the song and lyric resonated because I'd already *been* there.... Coast of Carolina, When the Coast is Clear, Far Side of the World....

Although driving through Alabama one time, it was cool to be thinking of Stars Fell on Alabama (Muscle Shoals, Decatur, Montgomery, Mobile, etc)

However, if you count where I've been because of the music (and by extension, music and situations that JB's music led me to), not just because of the lyrics.... well then:

Key West
Honolulu
Maui
Dallas
Long Island
New York City
Wisconsin
Chicago
Las Vegas
Tampa
Fort Lauderdale
Miami
Napa
Sonoma
San Jose
Mountain View
San Diego
Los Angeles
Calabasas, CA
Nashville
Mississippi
Alabama
Louisiana
North Carolina
Erie, PA
Camden, NJ

and growing every day..... :o
