“You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

1) How were the comments misintepreted

2) If it was a "botched" joke, what was the real punchline

Six days before the election, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee said he sincerely regretted his words were "misinterpreted to imply anything negative about those in uniform."

Nice....he sincerely regrets his WORDS were MISINTERPRETED. He doesn't regret saying them...he regrets that we, the listeners, heard him wrong. He's putting the blame on everyone but himself.

Seems to me ol Kerry needs a lesson in semantics....and in accepting responsibility. If he really wants to be sincere he just needs to say, "I'm sorry, I f'd up," and be done with it.

Was it his intent to slam the military? Who knows...but the point is that he did so and instead of pointing fingers and blaming everyone else, he needs to s u c k it up and admit he screwed up.
I couldn't agree more. Well said.

Had to borrow some lines from Keith Olbermann on this one, he sums it up better than I ever could.

So now John Kerry has apologized to the troops; apologized for the Republicans' deliberate distortions.

Thus, the president will now begin the apologies he owes our troops, right?

This president must apologize to the troops for having suggested, six weeks ago, that the chaos in Iraq, the death and the carnage, the slaughtered Iraqi civilians and the dead American service personnel, will, to history, "look like just a comma."

This president must apologize to the troops because the intelligence he claims led us into Iraq proved to be undeniably and irredeemably wrong.

This president must apologize to the troops for having laughed about the failure of that intelligence at a banquet while our troops were in harm's way.

This president must apologize to the troops because the streets of Iraq were not strewn with flowers and its residents did not greet them as liberators.

This president must apologize to the troops because his administration ran out of "plan" after barely two months.

This president must apologize to the troops for getting 2,815 of them killed.

This president must apologize to the troops for getting this country into a war without a clue.

And Mr. Bush owes us an apology for this destructive and omnivorous presidency.

We will not receive them, of course.

This president never apologizes.

Not to the troops.

Not to the people.

A cannibal was walking through the jungle and came upon a restaurant opened by a fellow cannibal. Feeling somewhat hungry, he sat down and looked over the menu...

Broiled Missionary: $10.00
Fried Explorer: $15.00
Baked Politician: $100.00.

The cannibal called the waiter over and asked, "Why such a price difference for the politician?"

The cook replied "Have you ever tried to clean one?"

It won't be Hillary or Obama. Look at history Senators do not get elected president, ex-governers get elected. I do hope either of them are nominated, it will make it much easier for the republican candidate.

If you can't contradict the message, attack the messenger, classic Karl Rove tactics, effective in real life and effective here. We all deserve what we are getting.

Let's hope to God that he runs..I wasn't sure which party he was affiliated with...I like him....and Cory Booker, the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey...I don't know his part affiliation either..

What ever party, they are both a breath of fresh air, and it's about time.

Thanks for posting that. I sawr it on tv last night. Olberman is a genius and is now up there with no Sh** newscasters like Jon Stewart. they are the only hope america has left to free ourselves from the Republican spin, spend, and spew machine!

BTW: even dems hope hillary doesnt run!

But really, it think jimmy should run for senate in Florida as soon as he retires from singing. I'm sure he could win, and bring back some reality to the do nothing congress. Hell, a Margaritaville state of mind is better than what they have now! [smilie=blush.gif]
