Let's hope to God that he runs..I wasn't sure which party he was affiliated with...I like him....and Cory Booker, the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey...I don't know his part affiliation either..

What ever party, they are both a breath of fresh air, and it's about time.
Does party affiliation really matter? IMHO, you should vote for the better for someone because he/she is a better candidate, not because he/she is a democrat/republican.

IMHO, a big reason as to why politics in this country has become so polarized, is because many people have become too lazy to actually research each candidate. Rather, they vote along party lines. Remember, just because you're registered to a party, doesn't mean you have to vote for that party's candidate in every single election.

Although to answer your question, both are Democrats.

Tonight I just need my guitar

I was at his concert at MGM Saturday night. I post here once in a while and come in a read posts several times a week. I was just passing on what I considered to be a very well thought out point of view on keeping things in perspective. They are all throwing a fit about a stupid joke, meanwhile 106 families in October alone got the news that their son, father, husband ,brother or whatever won't be coming home for these holidays or any others for that matter and for what?? If anything they are going backwards in Iraq, so who owes who an apology?

I am sorry but who ever he was trying to belittle with his comments he shot himself in the foot and I will never buy the fact that he is an ardent supporter of the troops. After his comments in 1972 and his throwing away of the medals and his book with the upside down American flag, I think the guy is a joke. I still don't buy his so called apology, he like most politicians only apologized after the heat got to hot for him.

Your comments are absurd. The 3,000 soldiers died serving their country. For Bush to say "woops, im sorry, shouldnt have gone there" would mean they sacrificed for nothing. If you think this was unjust, tell that to the thousands of Iraqi ciitzens who had been slaughtered, tortured, raped and terrorized by thier own government. But I guess American lives matter, and those of others dont? Iraq is a better place now, there is still serious unrest there, but I am quite sure the mass graves from pointless executions will no longer occur.

OK I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just get frustrated, I can remember having this same discussion with Samjustafan on COBO 4 years ago and in my opinion nothing has changed and we aren't any closer to getting out than we we're way back then. Maybe I'm wrong I don't know. I just don't see how we are getting out of there. This really isn't the place to discuss it, so I won't get carried away and I don't feel like I have attacked anyone here. These discussions ruined COBO back in the day, so I'll back off. By the way, I thought Buffet's show at MGM saturday was his best yet, he gains more energy the older he gets somehow.

Many things have changed. Most of the providences are quiet and safe. There are terrorist hotspots. The Iraqi forces are being trained are growing and are starting to take control of some of the more dangerous areas. It Iraqi prime minister is starting to take control of his forces and has attempted to restrict our forces. He has even talked about a timeline to have the US forces out of Iraq. His actions will lead to the withdrawal of forces next year. We will be out of Iraq long before we are out of Korea. There have been troops there for over 50 years.

Although to answer your question, both are Democrats.

In some states you are required to register witha specific political party...and during a primary, which can be a very important election during presidential election time, you must vote the party you are registered with...

Sooo..if you are a registered Republican and you want to vote for a Democrat in the primary you must change your party affiliation...

party affiliation doesn't really matter, but yet, it can.

Well, either way, i hope we are out of there as soon as possible. 3,000 lives and 300 billion is a huge price for the results that we are getting. Polls show that only 30% of americans think that the bush admin is right on the iraq issue. Thats a lot of 3's.

There has been some progress:

The individual of whom you speak is no longer permitted to post here - although I rarely agreed with him I miss his passionate engagement on political issues.

Also, though it might not be reflected in this thread in this forum you my friend are in the majority in this country now - it just took most folks a little while to see the truth.

Next week's elections will tell the tale of how much trust and respect the Republicans (and that guy who sits in the Oval Office) have lost.

ps If you dare to voice contrary opinions here while in possession of a low post count, some will insinuate that you don't know who Jimmy Buffett is. It's kind of like saying "your mother wears army boots". I'm sure you'll get over it. Don't let it trouble you - Jimmy Buffett rarely gets mentioned in the "Off Topic" area. That's why they called it Off Topic.

ANOTHER classic example of how the G.O.P. holds their people accountable, and damn them to hell for expecting the democrats to do the same.
Believe me, if Kerry were a Republican, or his last name was Nixon, they'd be calling for his head. Same holds true with former President Clinton WHEN HE LIED UNDER OATH.

There's truly no greater comic relief known to mankind than democratic spin control when they screw up.

(And by the way, Brian-yes, Mr. Buffett DID put on a great show in Las Vegas).
