A few years ago an article was written by a New Jersey columnist titled 10 Reasons Jimmy Buffett is better than Bruce Springsteen. I've been trying to locate the article to send to some Boss fans but had no luck. Any help would be appreciated

I can't help you with the whereabouts of the article but for me it's because I can understand what Jimmy is SAYING. And I'm FROM New Jersey - and still can only get every third word or so.

If you were a REAL fan you'd know the words!! In reality, these 2 entertainers are totally different so to compare them is foolish. (IMHO)

P.S. They both are awesome at what they do!! 8)

The best thing about Springsteen: he wrote one good song ("Glory Days"), and that one song was played the right way by JB and the CRB at Wrigley.

That was far and away the best version of that (or any other Bruce Springsteen song) that I've ever heard.

I think it is one of Jimmy's worst covers, and he should stay away from it in the future.

I really liked it. A lot more than I liked his covers of "Trippin' Billies" and "The Horizon Has Been Defeated" (and I love the original versions of those songs).

I am with you. I like Springsteen, but never have been fond of that song and don't think Jimmy's even reached the level of the orginal. (And I like many of JBs covers).

Apples and Oranges to compare the two any anyway.

I have a funny Bruce Springsteen story:

We were living on the Jersey Shore at Ft. Monmouth and my youngest daughter was taking dance class and she had her dance recital at the Count Basie theater in Red Bank.
We were waiting for her number and she asked if she could sit with her class in the balcony and watch the show. I asked her who was going to make sure they were on stage on time and she said Jessica's daddy and mommy. I said fine. About 20 minutes later she comes down the stairs with her class and I discovered her babysitters were Bruce and Patty Springsteen. I grabbed my kid and said "Do you know who that was?" And she said "Yes, that was Jessica's daddy!" Go figure. :D
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

I agree. I also think it's one of Springsteen's worst songs.

Glory Days is probably my favorite song of all time. I am a fan of a lot of Springsteen's work and can't stand some of it. I loved Buffett's version of Glory Days in Philly in '05, but I heard it replayed in RM about a week ago and I'm not a huge fan of it now.
i just think they are two very different performers who should not be compared.

I believe we found our stride
And the walls that won’t come down
We can decorate or climb or find some way to get around
Cause I’m still on your side

I like the song, with Bruce, but somehow it doesn't seem to click with JB.

Let me rephrase myself:

I'm not crazy about JB's vocals on the song because Springsteen's vocal stylings are much different.

I do, however, think the CRB did a very fine job on the song. That's what I enjoy so much. It sounds great on Dolby 5.1 surround.
