Yes, on one hand it’s very, very sad and on the other hand it’s quite a tribute of love and respect for the life one gave. Just finished watching Larry and the rest of the 60 minute crew. Ed was an amazing person and left a huge void that few, if any, can ever fill. I once heard that the only TRUE economy in this world is love, and the ONLY way to realize how much you invested in this economy is the pain you feel when someone you love is gone. It was obvious tonight Ed was a much loved man. So to the extent that we all hurt due to his passing, all our lives are better because we in some way connected with him as a person, and now we all experience his loss. We hurt because we loved. And in that there should be a mixture of joy and sadness because we tasted and experienced this very wonderful gift called life. If we really live it to all the fullness we dream of, we’ll all share some tears. Because we engaged in life and did not simply become observers.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:And maybe we now see an awfully good reason for Jimmy not making it to MOTM.....Tequila Revenge wrote:Though Mr. Bradley had largely concealed his illness, he and his wife, Patricia Blanchet, had reached out in recent days to some of his closest friends — including Charlayne Hunter-Gault of National Public Radio (who traveled to his bedside from her home in South Africa) and the singer Jimmy Buffett (who rushed to New York to be with him following a concert in Hawaii).

Yes, there was just something more important for Jimmy to do.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:And maybe we now see an awfully good reason for Jimmy not making it to MOTM.....Tequila Revenge wrote:Though Mr.

Is there any more difficult (or kinder) service one friend can perform for another than Mr Buffett just did?
So much for those who insist on defining him as just a self centered, fun loving playboy. The man truly loves his friends, especially this one!!
Wish he would stop by the James Taylor (another friend) concert tonite, so that I could just ((((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))))) him
Sigh

I was supposed to go to that show tonight but I'm going to pass. I don't think the rest of the crowd wants to hear me cough all night.Pleasin & Teasin wrote:Wish he would stop by the James Taylor (another friend) concert tonite, so that I could just ((((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))))) him

On December 10, 1989, Jimmy played the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan. At one point in the show, there was a knock on one of the doors at the back of the stage, Jimmy went and openend the door, and it was Ed Bradley. he had about 10 pizzas with him. Jimmy proceded to feed the audience pizza. I was with a girl who really wasn't into Buffett. somehow seeing Ed Bradley there seemed to "validate" Buffett for her. Needless to say, Jimmy didn't need to be validated to me and the girl and I soon went our seperate ways. Anyway, that is my favorite Ed Bradley memory. He just seemed so cool.
What a great memory. Just another example of "Ed's High I COOL!"Travis McGee wrote:On December 10, 1989, Jimmy played the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan. Just finished watching the "60 Minutes" tribute to Ed, and Jimmy got emotional talking about getting back from Hawaii just in time to see Ed before he died. I've always known Jimmy had that side, so I'm not surprised about that. I guess it's just that I'd never seen him so publicly sad.
I myself was a little emotional watching the special because Mr. Bradley was such a wonderful, brilliant, and unique man. Seeing Jimmy cry, for some reason, really broke my heart. JB's just one of those guys that you never see sad or unhappy, and to see him that way it really sad and touching to me. My thoughts go out to Bubba and all those that knew and loved Mr. Bradley; I'm sure he left a large hole in many hearts.
Just one more final salute to the one and only Ed Bradley. He was one of the best, last true journalists. Every journal should aspire to follow in Ed's footsteps, and he will be justifiably missed.

well said trojan....
As a kid, I wasn't allowed to watch much TV, but my parents watched 60 Minutes every week, so Ed Bradley and his reporting made an impression on me, even if at a young age I didn't appreciate it as much as I did later. Such a good thing that Jimmy made it back in time...
