Seeing Jimmy cry, for some reason, really broke my heart. JB's just one of those guys that you never see sad or unhappy, and to see him that way it really sad and touching to me.

I'm sorry for all those who lost a special friend in Ed; and it was a loss for many as he was a hardworking, talented and humble man of integrity, charachter, class and smiles...what a rare breed. It was hard to see Jimmy so sad; kudos to him for having the courage to salute a treasured friend in the public world. And when Marsalis played at the end...oh my....

I don't want to bring the focus on Jimmy instead of Ed, but I think it needs to be said that Jimmy's interview tonight proves he's much, much more than a beach bum.
In addition to that, one of my roommates who left the room when "60 Minutes" came on (and returned only when "The Simpsons" came on) said "Who the hell is Ed Bradley?" My response to that was "Questions like that explain a lot of what's wrong with our generation", and I honestly would've said that to him even if Mr. Bradley's death had not been in the news lately. It made me realize that in modern society, we do not truly appreciate the many living treasures we have, such as was the case with Ed Bradley, until they are gone. I vote for us appreciating these treasures before it's too late for them to see the appreciation we really have.

I myself was a little emotional watching the special because Mr. Bradley was such a wonderful, brilliant, and unique man. Seeing Jimmy cry, for some reason, really broke my heart. JB's just one of those guys that you never see sad or unhappy, and to see him that way it really sad and touching to me. My thoughts go out to Bubba and all those that knew and loved Mr. Bradley; I'm sure he left a large hole in many hearts.
Just one more final salute to the one and only Ed Bradley. He was one of the best, last true journalists. Every journal should aspire to follow in Ed's footsteps, and he will be justifiably missed.
Watching tonight's tribute made me realize something that I, perhaps, already knew...
Sixty Minutes may have lost their most soulful contributor when we lost Ed Bradley

Tears are still flowing.
My shift at work was supposed to end at 6:00 PM. That's the time "60 Minutes" comes on in the Central time zone.
I stayed in the detective's office and watched the entire show and didn't leave for home until close to 7:30. I never met Mr. Bradley, but feel as if part of my soul has been taken from me.
My God, what a warm, caring, sweet, honest, congenial, kind, compassionate, and loving human being this world had in Ed Bradley.
I've always liked him, and at the risk of sounding ghoulish, now I like him even more.
Now I see why Jimmy interrupted his vacation in Hawaii to return to Mr. Bradley's side to be with him in his final moments. Who WOULDN'T love Ed Bradley? And yes, Jimmy is definately more than a happy-go-lucky beach bum. His interview tonight proves it. Like the rest of us, he's human, and he grieves when something (or someone) which has been part of his fiber for so long has been taken away.
I'm not going to go on about Jimmy-we ALL know what a teriffic guy he is, and how he goes above and beyond showing his love for his friends.
How refreshing it's been to turn the TV on and hear Mr. Bradley just TALK to people. All people. Not questioning or interrogating them, as reporters are apt to do-not even INTERVIEWING them-just TALKING to them, and coming away with a story. People with his talent who show open compassion while at the same time being the consumate professional AND showing his love and empathy for his fellow human are indeed rare, if not altogether non-existent these days.
Go with God and rest well, Mr. Bradley. To say thank you for what you've given us is not enough. To love and cherish your memory is not too much.
May the love you exuded to all forever continue to circulate within us all.
Much love, admiration, and gratitude for you being you-
From a fellow Vietnam veteran.

Not sure the entire broadcast is included, but at http://www.cbsnews.com/ you can see video from the show, including Jimmy's interview and Wynton Marsalis' tribute.
A beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. We are a poorer world today than we were when Ed Bradley was still with us.......

Jimmy's got that rep for being ummmm, a tad cynical,,, about Parrotheads for example.. After seeing that interview, that reputation is completely nullified. Just as with his friendship with Ed, any cynicism about what nuts we are is totally offset by his appreciation of us giving him the greatest summer job there is.
It's nice to see JB express such heartfelt feelings..
And I can play this here guitar,,
Gonna thank my lucky stars.

True, tho his cover was already blown by the writing of that love song to us this year, "Here We Are".Griz wrote:Good point 61.trojan_sixtyone wrote:Just finished watching the "60 Minutes" tribute to Ed, and Jimmy got emotional... JB's just one of those guys that you never see sad or unhappy,
