Guy Clark cover...

Do you know if Jimmy Buffett ever covered Guy Clark's LA Freeway song at some point?

I know I'm just a newbie here, so I'm sure that somebody will know the answer for me.

I've heard a number of Jerry Jeff covers of it, but never one by Jimmy. But, I could be wrong. Have you checked the song list like jonesbeach10 suggested?

I've never heard of Jimmy covering L. A. Freeway. Heard JJW and Roger Creager versions.

Here is the allmusic guide listing.

Kind of a neat tool to use. This is only for songs that appear on albums and not covers from live concerts, but I don't remember Jimmy ever covering the song.

The only Guy Clark song I have heard Jimmy do is Boats to Build and now Cinco De Mayo.

if you see a song on p2p with Buffett in the title, check the discography first, then see if it is a live recording that he did a "one and off" of. Rupert Holmes and Austin Campbell get shafted regularly because some moron without ears labeled "The Pina Colada Song" and "The I-95 Song" as Jimmy Buffett's.

Trying to convince people that it isn't him, when "The label on the file says it is so it is", is like trying to convince a Rove Repub that the light shining from Cheney's butt isn't the sun but Shrub coming out for some air.

On August 7, 2002, Jimmy played a show with Jerry Jeff Walker at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett NY.

Jimmy did 8 songs, Jerry did 10. They played together on just 3.

L.A. Freeway was played during that set, but it was on of the songs that Jerry played without Jimmy.

Keep in mind, though, that the setlist archive is incomplete. Many, many shows before 1984 are missing. From 1985 on, it's fairly complete.

L.A. Freeway is a Guy Clark original.

Unfortunately Buffett doesn't seem to have discovered Guy Clark until Boats To Build, if his covers are any sort of acknowledgment.

There is no question that Mr Buffett was recorded singing LA freeway with Mr Walker....I heard it, and, as I recall, Mr Buffett was none too sure of the words....

I just cant remember what bootleg it was....possibly one from the Sausalito radio station in 1970s will try to remember to check my cds and see if i can figure it out

Jim Morris does a few JJW sonss. He does LA Freeway, Sangria Wine, and Redneck Mother. While it may sound kareoke on the cd, he does the stuff really well live.

Redneck Mothers is also not a JJW tune, it's by Ray Wylie Hubbard.

I like Jerry Jeff's cover of L.A. Freeway better than Guy's version, especially Jerry Jeff's rockin' live version of it.
I also think that Jerry Jeff's take on Guy's "Boats To Build" was better than Jimmy and Alan's cover of it.
However I can listen to them all.

I'm listening to this show right now. Jerry Jeff does the lead vocals on LA Freeway but on the chorus you can hear a second voice in the background, I'm sure it's Buffett.
