Cable TV. Well having worked for a CATV company I can say that the poor have the same expensive services as the rich, it is the "middle class" that actually pays attention and doesn't have all the premium services.

First, the superior grade fuel is better for your car
Nope. Not by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, using higher octane fuel in a vehicle that does not require it will actually result in decreased performance and deposits caused by incomplete combustion. The only vehicles that benefit from high octane fuel are vehicles with high-compression engines, and that's because the heat generated from that compression will ignite lower octane fuel before the piston is at top dead center.

It puzzles me that we are so inclined to think that we are superior beings simply because of what currency we have at our fingertips with which to amass "stuff".

I look at the "one wish" thread and am astounded at the material "hoarding". How did this become an overriding value of so many world citizens?

Dixon Ticonderoga is absolutely, without a doubt the very best pencil available to anyone...

it just does not get better than a Dixon Ticonderoga....and I pushed one for 15 years (accountant)....

I have nothing to say about....coke

I just broke a 5 yr. diet coke (with caffeine) habit...before that it was regular coke...and I won't even mention the years of addiction...

I still use diet with rum...maybe I should limit my intake of rum?.... :o

The way I look at it, we're only here for a little while, then it's eternity as wormfood - might as well cram as much enjoyment into our little spin as possible. And for many of us, stuff = enjoyment.

I was too late readin the thread to make the coke jokes. But I'm gonna do it anyway. The poor man's coke is much different than the rich man's. One is called crack.

For me? I want my friends and family and me to not have any financial worries. If that means no debts, but a happy/nice/comfortable home to live in. Yep. Having a few 'toys' for enjoyment? Food on the table. Good health. Fine. :)
