Cell phone suggestions?

Just started looking at upgrading my cell phone and although I'm fairly techie, my techie-ness is NOT in this area.
Currently, I've got an older Motorola clamshell phone. I like it, but it's too large to carry comfortably in my pocket and I hate holsters.
We're with Cingular and have to stay with them, as they're the only company with decent signal in our area.
Stopping by the Cingular store, I was fascinated with the Pantech C-300 (?) because it's SO small. Problem is, it's kind of expensive.
Don't think I'm eligible for a phone upgrade with our plan yet, so...
Here's what I want.... very small - easy to fit in pocket, prefer clamshell, not crazy expensive, and that's about it.
Any suggestions on good phones? (and maybe where to find them!)
Thanks in advance.

If you're not eligible for an upgrade they all look kinda expensive to me.
If you go to the cingular webiste and either look at your account or set it up using your cell phone # and a password there is a link that will tell you exactly what day you can upgrade.
I just got the red Samsung c417and I like it. It has the clamshell kind of design but it is probably much flatter than the phoe you have.
You can also go to
www.cnet.com and read tons of reviews.

First check to see when you become eligible for an upgrade...
I happen to like the Motorola RAZR for its slim design and no external antenna. It fits easily in a pocket.
If your primary goal is to save $$$ then cingular sells refurbished phones really cheap. Go to their website for your options.

GOOD LUCK!

Yup. I think "clamshell" is another word for "flip-phone."
(At least I think that's what it means...

I have a Sony Ericsson S710- it was replaced by the orange one (not sure if they still have that one either), but I love it. I'm ridiculously hard on phones, and it's a tank! Plus it has a good camera (1.3 mp), removable memory stick (so I don't lose my pics if I break the phone), and it's easy to use.
I would stay away from Motorolas if you're at all hard on phones- they usually die if you drop them very hard.

Also the cost of the phone or phones they offer at the Cingular store or by calling usually differ from what they offer online. Online usually has a better selection and prices. They also change their online selection of phones from every few weeks to every month. When I upgraded my phone I did it online as they did not offer the same price at the store. Look at what they are offering online, then go to the store to check out that phone.
