Getting close to showtime, I thought I'd pop in and see what was happening!! Oh my!!
You may want to consider renting a snowmobile to make it over the river and through the woods!
Seriously though, safe travels to everyone who is Aspen-bound between now and Friday, and all my best that you make it to thoroughly enjoy the snow, er um, I mean show!!
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say
I’m still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave
Be glad you out-of-staters that you didn't take the leap of faith and book a trip here this weekend. Several airlines have already cancelled flights *in* to Denver and just as many have cancelled flights *out* of Denver. The highway that travels E/W is closed basically from just outside of Denver to the Kansas border due to white-out conditions.
The "B" word is a reality the next few days or so. 13" are expected by the time I leave work today and 20" tomorrow by lunch time.
Drive careful all you Aspen-goers. PM me for my number so if you get stuck near Denver ya have a free place to stay.
Yeah, well, y'see............
at least one out of stater did take a leap of faith.......
I have a show ticket and a plane reservation into DENVER... TOMORROW MORNING.......
it now becomes a matter of safety that someone knows I'm (hopefully) on the road between Denver and Aspen.....
sure could use some phin power..........
I DESPISE snow.....

Going west at this point is better than going east, if that helps any. Getting TO Denver is the issue... Getting to Aspen once you're here is easier.
What are your thoughts on a road trip. You can make it if you leave now, and the highway will be open in that part of the state if leave now.
Can you beg and plead with your airline to change your ticket to Grand Junction or Aspen airport at no charge?
Worst case scenario, email your ticket to one of the folks who is going. It might be sellable at the door. There were a few folks mingling around for tickets last year. Who knows.

To Denver is definitely the issue... I'm flying Southwest, so no chance for other airports...
I was supposed to drive to Aspen tomorrow, but if it looks like I won't be going until Friday (either can't get into Denver or get in too late to drive tomrrow), I may fly to Aspen. United just tossed out $216 Round Trip fares DEN-ASE, for a Friday/Saturyday trip..... cheaper than a 4WD and gas...

If you can get to ASE for $216, I'd say go for it. That fare won't last long, though, as there's thousands of people out there trying to make the same arrangements you are to make it to ski country for Xmas.

If your're flying FOR Christmas, it's$1200... if your flying to ASE on Friday and back to DEN on Saturday, it's $216

So, might I hump you if you actually make it to Denver?

Hey all... Just wanted to chime in with an offer that's probably crazy to offer strangers, but this seems like a good group...so here goes...
I'm a pastor at the Lutheran Church in Aspen and a recent Buffett fan of the past few years. If anyone would like to make the trip and spend Thursday night at the church--think sleeping bags on the floor of a big room--please PM me and I'll see what I can do. It's snowed about 4 inches here today and it's the type of storm that's going to keep coming for the next 24 hours or so it looks like. Last time we got over 20 inches.
I'll count on anyone PMing me being only those that have said they're going to the concert on the first post of this thread so I don't have 25 people looking for a free place to crash in Aspen...
jen...maybe southwest will let you fly into salt lake city--or at least fly standby. it's a 7 hr drive from salt lake to aspen though. probably 10 because of the weather, although, right now it's easier to get in from that side of the state.

Looks like we're going to try to go halfway tomorrow evening. Got a reservation at the Super 8 in Leadville, which leaves (under dry conditions) a 3 hour drive to Aspen. Even if it takes us 10, we'll have time to get there before the show. Jimmy and the band better be there Because I'll be there hell or high water...
Looking forward to meeting (meating?) my first BN'ers in person.
