81611, can you keep us updated on the snowfall in Aspen? thanks!
I'll update on this thread every few hours. This is a good site for road conditions, complete with still video from I-70

http://www.cotrip.org/

Like someone else said, it's east of Denver that's the issue now. I think most of it is supposed to stay there, but we're socked in here in Aspen.

Here's another site with still shots of the conditions in Aspen.

www.aspensnowmass.com (Click on "The Mountains" then "Live Cams")

The snow amounts at the top of the page are usually for the top of the mountain.

Hope everyone gets here safely...Let me know how else I can help.

You've got my number, but don't DD me

Call if you get stuck (knock on wood)... The wife and I would probably be able to go a little out of our way to pick you up, especially if you've got snacks. :D

I make plans to go see Jimmy, and we'll have the first white christmas in YEARS....

Y'all can blame me. Everytime I go somewhere in Dec./Jan./Feb., it snows.

I'm a pastor at the Lutheran Church in Aspen and a recent Buffett fan of the past few years. If anyone would like to make the trip and spend Thursday night at the church--think sleeping bags on the floor of a big room--please PM me and I'll see what I can do. It's snowed about 4 inches here today and it's the type of storm that's going to keep coming for the next 24 hours or so it looks like. Last time we got over 20 inches.

I'll count on anyone PMing me being only those that have said they're going to the concert on the first post of this thread so I don't have 25 people looking for a free place to crash in Aspen...

Peace...

that's it, that's what I wouldn't say, when Mal thought I meant the B word. It's usually a green Christmas around here, and now look..............(imagine a picture here that is all white :P )

I'll be sending that PM to you buffett81611 soon. I'm strongly considering leaving early tomorrow, instead of waiting until Friday. I've got a hotel in Basalt, but only for Friday night.

SchoolGirlHeart - what were your plans to get from DIA to Aspen? We can work together, or just caravan.....or maybe I can jump in on your helicopter ride??

This thread is hopping now!!

--the big boss man at work just sent an e-mail, mentioned that we service clients across the nation that will not be effected by the storm. He has said that we will attempt to remain open through-out the week, and maintain normal hours.

moments after sending the e-mail, he was spotted in the parking lot scraping off his car and heading home (I'm guessing he's going home, as we don't have any out-side offices, we're a stand alone in the area)

The weather looks much better on Friday for driving......IMHO..... Tomorrow is still calling for more snow. Maybe give the road crews time to clear them.....????? Difficult choice for y'all to make...... Much phin power headed to Colorado for those in the storm, and for those traveling!

Just sent The Belly Up an e-mail asking when and how the public would be notified if there was any change or cancellation.

I will, of course, let you know if I hear anything from them.

Hmm... what idiot mentioned the 'b' word?
SharkOnLand wrote:A snowstorm shutting down Denver's airport in December is a slim possibility. Even given Colorado's reputation for snow, the big blizzards only typically happen in Feb-March.

Your biggest worry would be getting back to Denver, IMO... It's much more likely to snow in the mountains, and I-70 can be a parking lot (or if it's too bad, simply closed).

Oh shut up! I feel bad enough already.

Even as I was doling out that advice I was thinkin, "Nahhhh. What are the chances of a "B" word happening."

If Jen does make it here, she'll prolly find a way to make a pit stop and kick my ass or something.

As I mentioned in my PM to you Jen, if you need any help, just ask...please

I heard back from the Belly Up, twice already!!
They said that if anything changes, which they don't foresee happening, they will blast an e-mail to everyone of the registered users that bought tickets. --you had to provide you e-mail address to buy a ticket...I think I remember that??

Anyway, she said that they've survived worse and she believes Freddy is already in town. I mentioned that at least one band member has a show, out of state, prior to Friday (Peter is appearing at the Brentwood United Methodist, in Nashville, TN on Thursday night....something tells me we may not see him in Aspen  )

I told her I'd pass along the message.

I also told her that I would be clear on this point: The show is ON!! if that changes we will be notified. So do all you can to get there, Freddy doesn't want to play to an empty bar.

Friday's weather actually looks pretty good, so I would think Peter would make it to Aspen..... The CO transportation crews are pretty good about clearing snow & getting things back to working order quickly!! :D

Hmm... I'd imagine Jimmy will give him access to the jet... I don't think there'd be any problem flying a private jet into GJ or even into Aspen. The weather WILL be better on Friday. It will. Because I said so. And stuff.

Steady slow snowfall here...maybe 5 inches since I went to bed last night. I wouldn't worry about the show at all. It's not that bad here...we get this at least monthly. It's you Front Range people who freak out so easily when you get your dump. Denver will get more than Aspen this time around.

Peter can easily get a plane into Junction and have a 2 1/2 hour shuttle ride to Aspen. It's a flat and relatively lower drive from Junction to Glenwood (no mountain passes there). I think we'll have a full house and a full band.

Really looking forward to it!

Peace...
