I heard from the Belly Up. I told them I'd pass along this message:
The show is ON!!
If that changes they will notify us via e-mail (--you had to provide you e-mail address to buy a ticket). So do all you can to get there, Freddy doesn't want to play to an empty bar.

I figured we needed an ophicial place to gather for this one.
We can still have fun over here: News: Aspen Show on December 22nd
or here: Tonights interview: Aspen in December? or even here: The Aspen Dilemma

But here we can create a list of who's going, where they're staying, travel plans & thoughts.
Plus this gives me one more place to post during the day

Who's Giong:
Staying at the Green Drake - Basalt

Me and the wife will be there... Staying at the Green Drake in Basalt

I was thinking about driving up part way the night before, maybe spending the night in Leadville or something, that way we wouldn't be rushed too much trying to get to Basalt and get checked in and everything, seeing as it's a 6 hour drive in good weather...

I'm pretty stoked! Where's the tailgate? :P  :o

I'd say the tailgate will be at the Green Drake, since we'll both be there. Maybe I'll drive to Denver Thursday and stay at Mal's. She can offer plenty of tips for the show.

Wouldn't staying in Leadville require you to use 82 to get to Aspen? Or driving back from Leadville to Copper Mountain to hit 70 again? Though admittedly, I don't really know where Alamosa is

Leadville would be slightly out of the way if we could use 82, but it's on the way to I-70. Here are the mapquest directions. We've got to go the long way around, not using 82...

That means our paths won't cross until Dowds Junction, leaving about 80 miles to Basalt.
Check in is around 2:pm, I believe. Do you plan to ride the bus from Basalt to Aspen the night of the show? Sounds like a good plan, as long as they're truly running after the show ends.

Yeah, we were going to go the shuttle route... We'll check for sure once we get there, just to be safe... It would be nice not to have to worry about driving.

If we stay in Leadville, we'll probably get into Basalt pretty early, around lunchtime. If we drive straight through, it would be closer to 5:00 probably, weather permitting...

Ditto for me regarding driving before or after the show. Got lucky and scored a room in Aspen at my old favorite the Hotel Jerome...I tink that's about a ten minute walk? Anyone know for sure?

HJ is four-five blocks away, tops. I'll be about 8 blocks away at Molly Gibson. Driving afterward would be brutal.

Hey folks! We'll be heading to Breckenridge sometime soon, we were wondering about suggestions for restaraunts or bars. This will be our first snow/winter vacation in a few years. No hijack intended, but figured the local ohana might be checking this thread.

Thanks!

There's a Bubba Gump Shrimp in Breck, don't know much else about it though.

I wanna go!

Life has taken over my life, I hope that makes sense. But, I wanna go - any chance of scoring some extra tickets anywhere . . . was hoping to splurge for the hubby for Christmas.

Breckenridge Brewery - good beer, ok food, usually packed

Blue Moose - excellent breakfast

There's also a good pizza place - the name escapes me. It's in an old hotel.

I like the apres ski vibe at the Peak 9 base restaurant. Not fancy, just fun.

I snowboard there a lot, but not a local. There might be some better hidden places.

The charge on my credit-card for the ticket disappeared. Does that mean I'm going for free, or not going at all?

I'm also wondering when the charge for Expedia will hit the card. Does anyone know? I haven't used Expedia before. I expected the charge, or at least part of it would have been applied to my card already.

They won't charge your credit card until you show up (or don't show, for that matter, if you don't cancel in time).

I just checked in Expedia, it says "Reservation has been confirmed by The Green Drake." when I look in My Itineraries.

I can't check my credit card to check on the concert tickets, I left it at home, and can't remember the number and stuff.

I see the same on Expedia, just figured they might take some of the charge up-front. I guess since the hotel has a cancellation policy in place for that date that means we're paying whether we go or not, they'll just charge it on 12/22.

Some of the Expedia ones charge you up front... they're usually the "Good Buys" or whatever they call them... That's usually the case with the major chain hotels. Expedia charges you, the room is paid for, they keep their cut and send the remainder to the hotel. With the smaller hotels, I think you pay the hotel, then Expedia gets their chunk directly from the hotel.

First BN post. Have been reading the site for a few years though. Anyhow, I will be in Aspen with two friends. I cannot wait. This will be my third Buffett concert (previous two were in Denver).

As for the person asking about Breck, Mi Casa inside the Der Stiermark has good margaritas and decent mexican food. Downstairs at Eric's has some good pizza. The Whale's Tail is always popular as is the Gold Dredge. But to be honest, I am not even sure the last two are even open still.
