Police say Rodgers sped down Main Street and ran a red light
OK you jump first :-?

I say shoot the bastard. He has NO EXCUSE
"sped"... they don't say that he was running NASCAR speed.. It was a freakin' float. The "kidnapping" charge is just gratuitous so the prosecutor can look like he has a pair for the press conference.
Who cares how fast he was going. That's still wrong. There are NO excuses for what he did. What if you had a kid on that float? Would the speed matter then? I don't have any kids and this still pi$$es me off royaly to think that some jacka$$ would do such a stunt.
maybe not.. it was stupid, and it was reckless. But remember.. sober people do stupid, reckless things too.
Why are you defending this??
If not, you sure are coming across like it

I am saying that it was a stupid reckless thing to do; getting bent out of shape to the point of tacking on multiple kidnapping charges is incendiary grandstanding.

He got caught driving drunk. No one was actually hurt. Compare that to the guy in CA who just walked away from killing 10 people in a Farmer's Market while sober.

It's the degree of outrage that I am questioning.

Sorry I don't have an opion on everything that goes on in the world, but when it's in my home state and only 30 minutes up the road from me, that puts it in a whole new frame of mind as far as I'm concerned.

What happened in CA is sad for sure. But it is also a great mystery why a person would do what he did.

The case here is simple the man got drunk and got stupid. It's one thing to get drunk and miss a concert or get a sunburn from passing-out. It's another to willfully get drunk, get behind the wheel of a vehicle (parade or not) and haul anyone who is unknown of his condition. Thank God this story ends like it did. If anyone of a hundred events would have taken place, there could be some dead and/or injured kids.

I am sure 90-95% of people on here know of someone killed due to drunk driving or due to a drunk driver. I had a friend and a uncle killed due to drunk driving and a drunk driver. And drinking and driving isn't something that is taken lightly by those who it has affected. That is why I voiced my opion.
