After all, another one of his idols is road warrior Jimmy Buffett. "As a performer for so long you have this mentality of [wanting] everybody who comes to your show to be Parrotheads," Hicks explained, using the nickname given to Buffett's loyal followers. "The Parrothead mentality is like a gathering, a social event — it's not only about the music, but it's about the people you meet all over the country. That's what I strive for as a performer: to have a traveling circus of fans."</em>
I think Taylor Hicks is going to be on Martha Stewart tomorrow

Part 2 of my reply. Not that I care. No one will ever have the same type of followers as Jimmy has.

Hey, give the guy a break!!! He's not half bad!! and they say 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'....

I respect that he admires Mr. Buffett..... just as we do...and Hicks is a fun guy...its not surprising that he'd like to create the kind of fun that Mr. Buffett does.

...and who know, maybe in time he will. I for one am pulling for him.

Half bad means he is not half good either

I admire Jimmy Buffett. I like to sing. I can imitate Jimmy, but if I did that for a living, I'd starve to death because the sad fact is, I sing *badly*.... HIcks is a good karaoke singer, but I don't think he's a whole lot more than that..... He's got unrealistic visions of grandeur...

Besides.... A performer who strives for a "traveling circus of fans" as opposed to a great performance has very little credibility with me......

Sho' nuff, do. 8)
Sounds like he "idolizes" the fact that Jimmy has a loyal following, not really Jimmy. 8)

Nice that he likes Jimmy, but I fail to see how he
differs from Karaoke at a local hotel bar. With that
said, he could just do a Ford Dealership tour and sing
to a captive audience of 2007 model cars around the
country where he will be guaranteed a full house.

There must be some people who like him, if he won. I do believe there were parties at LuLu's in support of him when he was in the finals.
Some will go and some will stay. It doesn't matter anyway ......

It's funny the reception this guy recieves yet musicians out there that flat out imitate Buffett are welcomed with opened arms.
