This is a real story - buyer beware.
I was lucky enough to order 2 tickets for Section 109 Row A to the Orlando Fe 8, 2001 concert. I get tickets in the mail yesterday, but they're not my tickets. Ticketmaster stuffed someone else's tickets in my envelope. I got 4 tickets for section 233 Row N. Behind stage, nosebleeds where the section only goes to row T (Row N is only 5 rows from the top of the arena). I called Ticketmaster to find out what to do and to have them correct their mistake and send me out my correct tickets. After about 1/2 hour on various holds and finally getting in touch with a supervisor, here's what I'm told.
1. With TM policy, I bought the “rights” to sit in Row 109 A.
2. In order to do this, I have to go to the box office at the concert the night of the show and ask them to give me lost ticket vouchers. I have to bring my original TM confirmation #, photo ID and credit card used to purchase the tickets. The arena will then replace my tickets. With these replacements I can then have the ushers ensure I get to sit in the seats I've paid for - even if someone else is sitting in my seats. (Like this will go over well).
3. I asked the TM guy to just send out replacements and he said that the lost ticket way at the arena was the only way it could be done. I then asked what they were going to do to stand behind their product because I didn't bargain to stand in line at the arena box office the night of the event. He would only concede to take the $3.10 shipping and handling fee off since it was the "handling" that got messed up. He was steadfast in not making any other restitution. Even challenged me that "this is about money, isn't it?". I told him, no, money's not the issue, principle and standing behind one's actions is. He never got the message.
4. I also asked the TM guy if he's concerned that there may be a bigger problem and a lot of tickets were messed up - not just mine. He didn't seem to care.
5. I also asked the TM supervisor what happens if someone goes to the arena and sells any of the bogus tickets to someone outside the arena who buys them from the scalper thinking they're good tickets. Basically I'm told that this person is SOL - even though they thought they bought legitimate tickets. To the buyer, they ARE real TM tickets, but they will not be able to sit in the seats, see the concert and will be escorted out of the arena - all because of TMs mistake. I can just imagine the bad feelings, not to say fights, when an usher tries to remove someone from my seats that they have paid good money for. There's nothing to stop me, other than being an honest guy, from selling the 4 section 233s that they sent me by mistake via the 'Net or at the venue the night of the concert. Again, the TM guy didn't seem to care. I can just imagine what fun it's going to be to remove some other PH from my seats (or other seats that got messed up) that the PH thinks he bought legitimately (from a scalper or elsewhere) especially after he's been enjoying some of the pre-concert tailgating. I don't think I would go gently at the ushers request after being out about $120 if I were in their shoes and THERE'S no recourse.
BUYER BEWARE if you’re getting them from someone you don’t know. Whatever you do, don’t buy the Section 109 Row A Seats 9-10 because you’ll be escorted out of the arena even if you paid for them!
Be Very Careful about buying Ticketmaster tickets

Floridays-There's a good chance you might get lucky. TM probably sent your tickets in section 109 to the man who paid for the tickets in section 233. Because there were four tickets bought in section 233 and only two in section 109, the man that got your two section 109 tickets probably did like you and called to get replacements because if he kept your two tickets, two people in his party would not have a ticket. He'll probably get the lost ticket vouchers for the four in section 233, just like you will for the two in section 109. I doubt very seriously that it was a scalper who got the bogus tickets in section 109 because that would mean that he paid for the ones in section 233, and they rarely buy tickets behind the stage since they have little resale value.
Good luck and enjoy the show.

Hemisphere Dancer in Georgia was incensed last spring over Ticket Bastard's screw-ups & had really rallied many of us who lost out. Thanks for the latest update/warning. My husband will be at that show & I sure hope his ticket (an Orlando friend got them) isn't in section 109A #9-10 - he will be ticked after paying for a flight, rental car etc! Bet he'd make Jimmy look mild-mannered in comparison if they try to escort him out!

loridays, did you try contacting your State Reps? I find mine to be very helpful here in Michigan, Hemisphrdancer also does in Georgia. Mine has helped me with a bunch of problems such as phone getting shut off, of course ticket scalping, taxes and a few other things.
It'd only take a quick e-mail to find out if they can give you a hand. The phone company sure was quick to put my phone back on after they received a call from a Congressman!
At the UFOTTS site there is a link - either on the main page or the "States" page where you just enter your zip code and it will give you all of your reps and set up an e-mail with their address for you - then you just zip off whatever it is you want to say.
Worth a try I'd say - alot easier too than what Ticket master is trying to make you do. There's something wrong with that whole thing, they screw up and your the one who pays in the long run - both sitting and worrying if you are really going to get the seats you paid for and taking up time you could spend otherwise tailgating!

I had a similar incident for AC/DC tickets when I was in college. Ticket s--ter lost those tickets I had for the concert. Apparently, things went better than your story because I think they were still competing with Ticketworld (I think that is the name). I got the replacement ticket and the manager of the Providence Civic Center box office appologized.

FLORIDAYS --- How about putting an end to this story. What Happened when you got to the box office? Did you get the good seats or were your stuck in the rafters behind the stage? Was it as big a hassle as it sounded like?
This brings up a whole new can of worms when Ticketmaster screws up because if you have tickets for the good seats and someone comes up and tells you that you have to leave them and go behind the stage.....well I hope you can defend yourself because quite a few folks would get upset and start fighting.
Hope all worked out for the best....
