Barometer Soup......Best Song?

Post by Dr.Corona »

The only songs I've heard on B.S. are Barefoot Children in the Rain and of course Mexico live. What's the best Up Tempo song on this Cd?

Lage Nom Ai...hands down

Although Barometer Soup and Bank of Bad Habits are also very good.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Agreed...great song.

I've often wondered what it means, though. I could never figure it out. I know "nom" is French for "name" but that's as far as I've gotten.

Yep, at least for up-tempo. I really like the entire cd, though.
Ballad of Skip Wiley, Jimmy Dreams, the Mexico cover....it's all good.

Barefoot Children

Out here in Northern Califonia, we typically don't have any summer rain storms. I'm not making this up. Rain is a winter event. So the idea of seeing barefoot children in the rain at first seemed ridiculous. That is until we figured out a southern summer rain storm, and the whole barefoot children playing in the rain became very, very charming and beautiful. It's one of Jimmy's happiest songs.

Barefoot Children is one of my most favorite songs of all. When we get the very occational summer rain ( I live in very Northern Calif.) I make the keets get out there and run around. The images that song brings to me are so very happy and soothing. The keets are getting older and sometimes begrudge going out in the rain barefoot but, then they say "We know it's a Jimmy thing" and then they go out and indulge me in a very beautiful image and memory. IMHO that song is perhaps the best Jimmy song of all.

Barefoot Children is my favorite song from the album.
It always makes me smile but it's not really what I'd consider uptempo. Upbeat? yes.

My favorite uptempo song from it is a toss up between Lage Nom A and Bank Of Bad Habits.

Agreed.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

Toss up between Lage Nom Ai and Don't Chu Know for best up tempo song but I don't think there's a bad song on the album.

One of two of the best dance songs JB ever did, Lage Nom Ai, the other being Love and Luck.

From CoBo : [NOTE: Lage Nom Ai Nom Ai is island patois which loosely translates: "The man who gave up his own name."]
Some will go and some will stay. It doesn't matter anyway ......
