Are you denying your comments that I quoted are personal comments directed at other posters? If you're going to condemn other people for making personal comments maybe you should refrain from making them yourself. People who live in glass houses ... it didn't have anything to do with other people...far as I could tell there was only one person involved that injected a personal reply (as far as a reply to me)..
and my first personal reply was to something he posted...
like I told you a few pages ago, if you're that interested in it..get your facts straight by reading back...
I'm not going to do it for you...
are you concerned with whaling or are you just here in an attempt to ...correct me?

Ya know what ???? IMHO, and others.... folks are sick and tired of reading about endangered animals and such, when there are HUMAN BEINGS that don't have homes or food - through no fault of their own.
Get over yourselves and the bickering.
Get over the fact that there isn't much you, as an individual, can do about these animal body parts. Not unless you plan on quitting your jobs to become a full time activist.
Stop the bickering with others.
Peace to you all.

Okay, a couple of things here....
Can we leave the personal attacks out of this so that those who feel the need to babysit this thread can find better things to do?
I think we've muddied the waters a bit by bringing in the bear factor...since it is legal to hunt them and not legal to hunt most of the other species discussed. I guess my issue is that I really don't think the poaching of bear would be decreased by a few people giving or selling the gallbladder of a bear they legally killed...and it is still providing a source for gall in the market. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm guessing this is much like the 'legalize drugs' debate...no one is ever really going to know the consequences (positive or negative) until it's tried, and yet no one wants to shoulder the responsibility of making a decision that could have very negative results. If only we had a crystal ball.
As for whether or not the "cures" work....chemical analysis and other studies have been done on those products...there is such a small amount of the desired ingredient in them that there is really no way they could ever be effective. Any benefit would be all in the person's head. I just can't equate that with going to a chiropractor, it seems like apples and oranges to me.
Bumper...hunting rhinos depends on species and location. It is legal to get a permit for white rhinos in South Africa. No go for black rhinos, unless that change I mentioned above has been implemented. And AFAIK nowhere is it legal to hunt tigers....their numbers, like the black rhinos, are just too small.
And LLG, trust me that zookeepers have more than dart guns.
Can you imagine the amount of alcohol we'd go thru if we all had this discussion in person?
Bumper and I have done that a couple of times, not necessarily on this topic.
And opposing viewpoints has never gotten in the way of our friendship.

Well maybe if you got a strong batch of gall it would work...
actually I'm not even sure what a gall really is so...
Oh and I'm not messing with the zookeepers...they'll feed me to the lions...hey maybe I'm an aphrodesiac (sp?)...
As for the chiropractor...my Dr. tries to make me go everytime I see her (back problems), she totally believes he works, but he doesn;t for me, just like maybe the gall works for some...wether it be mental or not, if it works, it works...
I'm always up for drinking and discussions, my friends and I, who are generally on opposite sides of everything, do this a lot and its always fun!if you're ever in RI give me a call...

Guess we need to lock a lot of other unneccesary topics here too then...like what did YOU get for Christmas when so many didn't get anything.
This world is going to be a pretty sucky place if we all adopt that attitude that one person can't make a difference. I KNOW differently, I'm sorry you've never had that opportunity. And I'm not just talking endangered species. This is obviously where you and I are going to have to agree to disagree, Pen.
Oh yeah...and remember...no one is forcing anyone to read and participate in this thread, as is mentioned all the time. I avoid all the other ***** threads that I have no interest in, I suggest that others who aren't interested in this topic do the same. Not all of us are bickering, in fact very few are.
Again, all I can say is wow.

You can express your opinion, but really if you're sick of a subject, why would you keep reading it? Just to complain? Thats as bad as bickering...SMLCHNG wrote:![]()
