IDAHO SPRINGS - On Christmas Day, Santa Claus ran into some trouble up in the Colorado high country.
Santa was hauling one of his beloved reindeer and couldn't make it up his driveway with the trailer.
He left "Vixen" with food and water, intending to come back.
But some Good Samaritans got involved before he returned.
Here is the story:
On a cold winter day,
With low flying clouds,
Who do we spot along I-70 but Santa Claus.
The encounter was odd, to say the least,
He was about to haul one of his beasts.
It wasn't what we could call a traditional sleigh.
"Trying to have the reindeer have a little break here," said Santa.
A break especially needed on Christmas Day.
Santa said, "The license plate had fallen off the trailer, people thought the reindeer was abandoned."
They called DOW (Department of Wildlife), and Animal Control
They wanted to make sure he got back to the North Pole.
"Santa called and, it was his, got him hooked up with his little guy," said Patricia Mount, animal control officer with Clear Creek Sheriff's Department.
So the work ended on Christmas Day,
With Vixen finally being taken to Santa's sleigh.

Hmmm...if PETA wanted to protest Santa's "abuse" of his reindeer, what color paint would they throw on his clothing?
