does anybody else love ancient egyptian things. The Tut exhibit is going to be coming to philly soon and i've already pre-bought tix. If I love it I'll see it more then once. Also the museum for Univ. of Pa. right nearby will be having a special exhibit that coordinates with it. I'll have to see that too.

My parents took us to see the Tut Exhibit in NYC years ago. My Dad tried to tell me why it was important and what kind of historical significance it had but I wasn't interrested.

I'll try and see it in Philly this time and maybe I'll appreciat it this time....

I saw it in '77 and this year at the Field Museum in Chicago. This showing is missing several of the larger items that toured in the 70's. Still pretty interesting though.

Yep, it is a different exhibit than the one on the 70's, but I thought it was really good. And very well curated. One of the neat things they did is that the annotations for each display case are both at eye level, and higher up so those that could not make it to right in front of the display cases could still read about what they were seeing.

yep if you have keets who like history i'd take them. I know it's not the full exhibit but they only take these items on tour once in a rare while. And they are only appearing two places in the country so you are lucky if it is nearby.

Normally the UofP museum is one of the best places to go. Their Egyptian collection is great but their is just so much to see their. It's also free/donation.

I'm fascinated by all things ancient. I'd love to go to Egypt to see the pyramids. I went to Italy and was fascinated by all the ruins. Everytime they go to build something in Rome they find a part of the old city. I went to Pompeii. Felt very strange to be walking on the same spot that so many died. When I went to Venice I stayed in a hotel older than the US!! But I digress ..... yes I love to read about or see anything from ancient Egypt.

for women and guys who don't mind reading slightly chick orient books I strongly recommend the Elizabeth Peters Egyptian Peabody series. It is excellent as combo mystery/romance/Egyptology.
